I could not for the Life of me embed the video, sorry.
http://www.joystiq.com/2013/03/18/team-fortress-2-is-oculus-rifts-first-official-game/

"Team Fortress 2 will be Oculus Rift's first official game and that Valve will push a VR mode update to players "sometime within the next couple of weeks."

"This is a mode that everybody who has a Rift dev kit and access to Team Fortress 2 will be able to play, just on public and in the same servers that everybody else is playing in,"

"Team Fortress was sort of the obvious choice for this," Ludwig said. "The Team Fortresscommunity is large and healthy. There are millions of people playing TF every week, but they're also used to us shipping a lot of updates."

Ludwig said Valve is currently experimenting with VR in its other games, but is hardly committing to anything beyond testing at this point. "We've played a bit in Left 4 Dead; we've played a bit in Half-Life 2. We haven't taken any of those other games to the point where they're anywhere close to being ready to be shipped; we've just sort of experimented with head tracking a little bit."

Looks pretty cool, but it seems like Garrys Mod or Portal 2 would have been a better games to have official support for.

right, it will probably cost a 1000$ and has 2 possibilities: or it will have a huge advantage or disadvantage to people who play without it.

I'm interested to see how it'll turn out. If it has an impact, that'd be cool; if not, I guess it wouldn't really matter, though it'd suck for the company (but it is a learning experience).

Dunno if it'll make for a big advantage or not, because while it seems nifty, towards the end of the video, it looks a little more unruly with looking around. Imagine twitch turning with that, and turning around to look for spies @_@ I don't wanna break my own neck.

I think that being that it's only a headset, it will just be an extended style of 3d.
Some cool features they could add, a puff of air that hits you in the face when you get aiblasted by pyro
Something that hits your head when you get bonked etc.

Cant imagine enough about how they could implement jarate.

My bro has shown me this, this is pretty interesting. I think it was on Mind Blow at one point as well, or on Vsauce3.

It's backed by Valve. It's an experiment, yes, as well as their Steambox being Linux based. I call them both experiments since VR and Linux aren't mainstream yet.

I remember the kickstarter for this, its first game was claimed to be hawken and doom 4 or something. It's definitely the last screen I would buy beings it costs as much as a screen and has 110 degree viewing.

Where? Link.

Yeah it's a good step but nothing I'd pay for. Not until full VR. It seems a little pointless and novel to just have it track head movements while everything else is commanded by the keyboard/mouse.

This looks awesome. Not worth dropping $300 dollars though.

Edit: Wait if TF2 is free, how will they make money o.o

I want to believe this will be cool. It's one of the few things that /v/ is actually excited for. And that's pretty unusual considering /v/ spends 99.99999% of it's time complaining about shit. That being said, there is a lingering part of me that fears this will just end up being the next "Virtual Boy."
