I believe the intent was to have the Armory door kill people to prevent people from holding it open.
It being held open has never been as much of an issue as it randomly killing people just trying to walk out of the armory at the beginning of the round.
I personally have no trouble with it. If its been open for awhile I just wait for it to close then open again plus its funny as hell watching people who don't pay attention get killed by it. I don't see why it's such an issue.
In the next update it will do less damage / sec. It won't be instakill but sticking in the doorway will kill you, just need to work out how fast.

I see no problem with it either, but people have complained to the point where I am going to nerf it.
