New [Surf] Suggest adding these new maps (and removing some others that the server wants)

Early this month, I made a post talking about how we need new maps for the Skial Surf rotation. However, I didn't specify the download links.

"Hello Skial! You know, one of the servers that goes very unnoticed by many is the Skial Surf US server. As someone who enjoys playing on that server, and someone who enjoys surf in general, I would like to note something about the server; Why is there only a few maps in the rotation? I mean, this is the ONLY surf server thats up and running, and it only has 16 maps! 16! Compared to older, more inactive servers, which has like 35 to even 100 maps, its just not a lot in my opinion. And plus, you haven't even added new maps in 1 and a half years! The same 16 maps can get boring after a while, so I suggest adding new maps to the rotation so we can get a little bit of diversity! There are maps like telstar, overlook and maybe even mesa that the server wants! Like I said, we need some diversity! Please can you consider adding new maps to this server? Thanks!"

The maps the server mostly wants are Telstar, Overlook, Mesa, Pulse, Whimsy, the list goes on! Many of these maps used to be in the server but have since been removed, but the server wants them added back! I'm surprised the rotation has been left untouched for 1.5 years! The community also want surf_air_arena removed, as it has no main surf and is bland and boring.

Yes, everyone at the Skial Surf server is practically begging for new maps at this point, they just don't know this is pretty much the place to ask for it I would guess.
New maps would be very, very much welcomed, especially ones like surf Akai, Telstar and Kitsune that I see mentioned/asked for quite a bit. The map rotation is pretty mind-numbing at this point where I've seen Rainbow get picked as soon as its off from cooldown, same for 10x/Forbidden Ways all the time.

I'll simply add that I don't think Air Arena will be removed. In my experience the map is very... polarizing, with ~50% of people on either side loving or hating it.

Totally agree that new maps should be added though. No arguments there.

The surf server does totally need a larger map pool. No need to remove any maps though, unless they have some serious issues I'm not aware of.

Apparently Telstar got removed due to some letter generator you can get from beating the map or some secret or something? Anywho if possible if an admin/mod can specifically say why the map got removed to begin with I don’t doubt whatever it was can be removed so the map can be re-added once again.

i mean, you brought back crater and quack so why not the others? I get that they were unpopular, but the server has been begging for 1 and a half years? Can't you just get a map that was never on the server and that people like?

Out of all the suggestions mentioned on this thread I’m not 100% clear which maps Skial had before, but on the recommendations that have been put on here, pretty much all of them have been said by the regulars on here that I’ve been able to spot that they would indeed enjoy them for the grand most part. But the emphasis on everything is that there are little maps on this server compared to any surf server out there, and the lack of maps in general has been brought up multiple times as something detrimental to the server as the same map rotation that occurs in the server over and over again gets boring quick for quite a lot of people. Which is why if it’s ever asked if new maps should be added to the server everyone always says yes. You can check the logs in chat, it’s not a thought only shared by us commenting here, but an actual desire pretty much everyone wants for the betterment of the server’s enjoyment.

I used to be part of a surf server called Omega Arcade, it would get full that people had to wait and mash the join server button in hopes of getting a spot in. With that said, we had a bunch of maps Skial has and much more. Map rotation felt fresh just because of this fact, no map truly became stale because of this. That aside, almost everyone preferred surf Akai to Forbidden Ways, Utopia, and Air Arena. Maybe the comment you mentioned is fair as I don’t know how it was received if it was on Skial before, but in my old server it was generally well received all the time even by surf pros that wanted to chill. I’ve asked multiple times in the Skial Surf server both with regulars I recognize and also those I do not know, the general consensus is that Akai is a liked map and I do not understand why it would be a better map than Air Arena which everyone vocally expresses distaste for the map whenever it gets selected on the server.

Bottiger of course you are the owner of this server and have the final word in it all, but I and many others genuinely believe adding more maps at even the risk of them being “bad” maps by one standard or another would still help to both keep the map rotation fresh, and a lot of people are actually fans of the maps we have mentioned so far on here. I do not know why you would consider them specifically bad, but if there’s a chance of this happening.

I would love if you could somehow conduct a survey on which maps would be a great addition to the server, and that way at the very least we can get the real general consensus of the server as a whole on which maps they would prefer.

If however the survey seems kind of hard to do/time consuming, at the very least we would appreciate if you or someone representing you or the Skial Staff would come in on the server when it’s full to ask which maps would make a great addition to Skial, so at the very least we don’t have to depend on a few forum comments on here to express a desire pretty much all of the server shares to add new maps in.

If that is also however difficult to do, I would suggest as a last alternative to just add 1 new map in and see how’s it’s received in the map rotation. It’s been apparently more than a year since a new map got added, and I can guerantee it would be played more than Surf Lament or Surf Halloween which I believe barely get picked on the server afaik. That way we can prove or disprove which map is liked or disliked in the server, and if you would want it removed then it would be justified at least after this year+ hiatus of map additions. I do not know the exact effort involved in actually adding a map to the server, but at the very least I doubt people would want it removed, especially if it was recommended on here, IMO, from the feedback I’ve heard in this server.

I think the server needs more maps cause it is getting kind of stale playing rainbow every day.

I feel like adding a handfull of new surf maps a year should do well, maybe spread the release of each map out so the server feels fresh, also, don't remove air arena. Or really any map, even though I hate air arena, there are others who do like it. What matters most is having a map for everyone to enjoy, if some guy only enjoys air arena, then so be it. Honestly nothing is gained by removing a map that half the people don't like. There's plenty of other maps for people to play on. But going back to my original point, adding new maps should be mandatory, I want a map catalog for surf the same way skial death run has a massive catalog. Because honestly playing rainbow and Venice for 20 times a day really getting tedious after a while.
