{THAT} Fatal Xception :D

Scarcely Lethal Noob
I've been blocked from replying to my own appeal thread with additional information and was told by the ever awesome KillerZebra to create a suggestion thread. Nice how the same admin that bans you can deny your appeal.

I wasn't aware that spectating under any condition was a bannable offense so I hope to help other players avoid it by suggesting a rule update.

So you intentionally went into spec because you thought some players had better ping and the server was full. I would consider that a reason to kick, which Zebra did. Then you rejoined and went right back to spec, so he banned.

Since I wasn't on a team (spectate), I don't see how the clarification that "refusing to help advance your teams position" would be understood by any player in this context.
How about this:
  • Do not enter spectate to avoid confrontation with another player, you must disconnect.
    • Spectate is not allowed when there are no player slots available (I would think this could be done by a mod instead of rule)

This suggestion has been closed. Votes are no longer accepted.
I'm pretty sure this is the case.

If you didn't get banned for being retarded, you wouldn't have made this suggestion in the first place.
First, I find your use of the word retarded offensive. I've kept this open and non-confrontational. I have a full day to reflect on my ban and I am trying to use the time to help other players avoid the situation through the admin recommended forum.

But others don't need help because most of them don't rage in spectate about being killed.

Already stated once, this isn't about my ban (check the "raging" yourself). I am trying to help clarify spectate expectations so other players don't get kicked for spectating when the player slots are full.

Which I also stated that you are only trying to clarify this because you got banned.

I don't care enough to look back, but I think KillerZebra did say that he does not care about people spectating. Only the ones who spectates complain about stuff.

It should be common sense. Don't sit in spectate on a full server.

There we go ladies and gentlemen, seems like that's the rule. I'd suggest that a mod be put in place to disable spectate on a full server. I'll warn other players if I see them in spectate when the server is full as well.

Why the hell would they add that plugin? We wouldn't be able to get a demo if someone happened to be hacking

You're wasting a player slot. Plus, you're not playing on any team so that pretty much counts as not helping your team advance.

If it's something that is kickable or bannable, IMHO there should be a rule.
There is a rule, refusing to help advance your teams position, or in other words refusing to play the game
Sitting in spec for a few minutes is ok
But if you're on it for over 10 minutes with a full server, where there are probably other people willing to take your slot and actually play the game, and you're just complaining about pings... that's just common sense now

We try to keep rules as minimal as possible, situations that cause conflict or irritation of other members are dealt with on a case by case basis.
Sitting in spec can be irritating to those wishing to play, can cause unbalance in teams, and even be construed as ghosting, however it has been simple gaming etiquette for many years, that sitting in spec for prolonged periods is a no-no. declined and locked.
