Declined Stronger Pre-Emptive Measures to Block Cheaters

Hello Skial nerds,

I'm pretty notorious on the forums and Discord for my hatred of cheaters as well as my mockery of Valve for firmly sticking their head in the dirt in dealing with said cheaters. I don't give a fuck if you were "just a foolish kid" when you cheated or if you are a lifelong Premium Lmaobox gimp (paying a monthly/yearly price to cheat in a free game. Lmfao.exe)

Seemingly Valve bans in waves and "catches" cheaters but does very little to PREVENT new account cheating. And I've been watching and it never seems to get better for ya'll beyond improvements to SMAC.

So I propose this. A means to block obvious alt accounts before they can get on. Perma-ban/block all Level 0 steam accounts that try to connect to Skial server.

Fresh to Skial and probably just used one of those steam account generators, threw on some free cheats and jumped on Skial to be a little hacking douchebag.

But a pattern with these accounts is they are almost never a "developed" account (private, "user has not set up account", level 0 garbage)

Pre-Banning these accounts will relieve the pressure from admins and the little tard kids that watch a Youtube video and think they can just copy what they see and think it will be fun. Do yourselves and your community of regulars a favor so they don't have to make reports and whine in the Discord.

Potential issues: Legit skial players that actually have 1000's of hours in tf2 or on Skial, but TF2 is their only game cause they're poor. Say for example I had a 10 year steam account but could never afford any games except for free ones, thus my Steam account has always been level 0.

Solution: Let them appeal on a case-by-case basis and if they have good history on Skial then their account and IP can be unbanned. Either that or fuck 'em cause tf2 has been out since 2007 and if you're still some Level 0 FTP steam user to this day then bro go get some levels.

Please Consider this Bottiger and other admins, it will lower your population by removing or blocking mostly trash steam users anyways but will increase Skial's rep of doing more to stop cheaters.

I wonder just how easily they could complete a few Steam Community tasks and grab a few levels that way :v

It'd take them a few minutes maybe, but they'd no longer be level 0

From my research it takes a lot of effort adding security features and working to build your steam profile to get beyong just level 0. That and this article claims you must spend at least $5. So essentially $5 every time a kid wants to make a new steam account and join Skial to cheat.

Makes me wonder, how many legitimate level 0s play Skial?
 
Probably about 80% are alt accounts of people muted/punished or just cheater alts. Fuck em.
 
All those who are legit and join just to find they are banned will probably never join again, and will certainly not hunt down the skial forums to make an appeal to get whitelisted. This is not good for new 'customers'

Sucks to be them then, not Skial. Stop being a level 0 account in 2020.
 
Well ok, I see millions of people started to create alt accounts when they got main account banned

If they joined server with alt then they get auto banned from banned ip and proxy ip banned.
 
Bottiger could also put some disclaimer in the error message users get when trying to join servers they're banned from.

"You are banned for having a Level 0 Steam account.

If you are a legitimate player and want to play on Skial servers please appeal at www.skial.com"

If the user can't figure it out beyond that then oh well.

But in the example above that person probably is using a proxy, isn't an alt, and still managed to get on. There are kids that fire up tf2 on a new account to jump from community to community to ruin the fun. They don't even like TF2.

If legit and new players were not an issue, I'd fully support this. Fucking trolls don't deserve our time of day but we still have to go on man hunts putting them to the stake
 
skial anti cheat does catch a lot of cheaters

and even then you can just file a report and record a demo file

the only reason people do not do this is because they are either misinformed or are too lazy... and yet to have enough energy to join the skial discord and complain there???

yeah it's tf2 players, the bar of effort and intelligence is low. Very true
