If i startup a game on steam, i get this error:

SteamStartup() failed: SteamStartup(0xf,0x0xbffff27c) failed with error 1: Failed create pipe: 0
I have a Mac with 10.7.2, and the newest steam version.
How can i fix this?

in my Steam map i have the following items:

Appache (map)
AppUpdateStats.blob
ClientRegistery.blob
com.valvesoftware.steam.ipctool.plist
Config (map)
GameValitation.log
logs (map)
registery.vdf
ssfn6218908135473951902
steam.log
SteamApps (map)
userdata (map)

with ones do i need to keep and wich ones do i need to keep?

I don't know about Mac much but I would suggest basically removing Steam, deleting everything left over in that folder and reinstalling.

EDIT: You say you still have problems. You definitely could NOT have deleted steam and downloaded TF2 again this quickly. I call bullshit.

lordthree is having the same problem, it's apparently the new steam update. I'm having him try an earlier version of steam to see if that helps anything. I'll come back and let you know if that works!

Users found this page by searching for:

Looks like this is a pretty common problem right now. Seems to be Mac related, so it looks like Anya is right, something got fucked up with the latest update for the Mac client.

Do this. Go to your Applications folder, and just delete Steam. It SHOULD also delete all your games (TF2 and anything else you have installed through Steam), but it might not. If you still have TF2 or any other Steam games in your Applications folder after you throw Steam in the Trash, then delete those, as well, just to cover all your bases.

Then go download Steam again from the website, reinstall, and see if you're still having the same problem. If so, then chances are that the current client is hosed and you need to wait for Valve to patch it. I'd also suggest putting up a Steam Support ticket, as well, and giving them the error message so they can look into it. Chances are that they're already well aware of it, but it doesn't hurt to feed them data to work with.
