How exactly does this work? So you can buy mods now, I get that, but does that mean that you can buy like csgo skins from the workshop? If you could, that would be quite neat. Or does it only apply to texture packs and such
If you could buy just anything from the workshop then CS:GO's filesize would balloon up by like a gig a week. If you can see a decal or skin in-game, you have to have it downloaded. Just like sprays and decals in TF2. Actual mods don't count since they're only clientside and no one else sees them.

So the only things you can buy are all client side mods? I was just wondering, it would be neat if you could buy a hat or skin and have everyone else see it. I would definitely pay for that

Well Skyrim is the only game you can do this for right now and is single player so yes.

But if Valve were to do this for CS:GO they'd have to manually allow skins into the game so people don't wake up and have a surprise 20gb update one day.

This happened to me and I don't know if it's suppose to be like this. I wanted to look at a discussion of a paid skyrim mod

Well, I always liked playing Vanilla anyways except for some aesthetic/cosmetic skins, trees, n stuff..

LIKE MY XMAS SKYRIM TREES HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO CELEBRATE XMAS AND HOLLOWEEN AND SUMMER WITHOUT MY AESTHETIC MODS WTF

EDIT: just remembered about my rich traders mod that actually gives traders a lot more money so u can actually stuff to them... RIP

Yep, you can't go onto the discussions for a paid mod if you don't own it. Also steam is banning users who speak out against this new thing.

That petition hit its required limit of 15,000 the day it went up. With almost 100,000 supporters, Valve better at least acknowledge it.

They'll probably add paid mods to their games because they only hear good things about it since they're removing all the bad ones
And of course to get the extra 35%

This is something I could see EA trying to pull (if their games had mod support in the first place lol) but I'd never think Valve would try something like this.

It's disappointing

Friendly reminder to avoid discussing this stuff on the Steam community forums unless you like being banned from them by some nerd.
If you don't believe me go read their cancer EULA.

Personally, I don't agree with the new pay-for-mod system, but at the same time, I can see how creators of large scale mods might want to receive some sort of compensation for their work. In my opinion, if the mod is large scale and likable by the community, then why not allow the option to just donate? Or the game developer could just pick up the mod and serve it out as DLC and profit share that way, but that would be worse than just giving the mod creator money, I feel.
