Spectacularly Lethal Soldier
I'm surprised by the amount of reports made about people being racist and homophobic during games. You would think people would grow up.

Last month I reported someone for making negative stereotypes about the LGBT community and they got a month communication ban. Curious I looked up why it was a month and it turns out he has a history of being racist. This isn't some kid on the microphone, its a full adult. A month goes by and his ban is lifted and he goes and comments on my report and tries to chat with me on steam (he found out my steam account name, its not linked here). Later that day he gets banned permanently for being racist again...

How hard is it to just shut up and play the game. No one wants to know about your views on gay people.

They're just mad their Dad's are being cuckolded and probably fucked by Big Man Tyrone every night and they have to hear it cause they're 30 still living in their parents guest bedroom. So to be an outlet for their frustration they come to FTP games to be racist homophobes. Lmfao

You also need to understand they probably AREN'T racists and homophobes, they do it cause it's their "go-to" for making people mad and getting reactions. This game is old and some people can't seem to play and enjoy it anymore. So then they have to find stale and unaspiring ways of trolling. Unoriginal? Of course. But it got people like you to make a post about it.

But you would think if they got bored they would try weird weapon combinations or play a different game or do anything else with their life. Its also always 2fort, like if they're bored they should join a MvM map or hell Pass Time. Like why go to 2Fort to be bored lol

Some people know nothing else. When your routine is wake up, be racist on the only game you can afford for 10 hours, eat chicken tendies mommy made, then go to bed......that's all they know.
 
I play Heroes of the Storm.....a very very low population MOBA game made by Blizzard. It's the least popular of all of Blizzards IPs by far. And every day....every single fucking day there's dudes with >50 hours in-game where they're spamming Trump, China hate/homophobic and racist shit in the [General] chat channel. These dudes aren't even PLAYING MATCHES AT ALL!!!! They are willingly spending their time spamming the N word in a channel most people mute.
 
ooooo I use to play Heroes of the Storm, its very fun. I was a Sonya main. I don't know why people take being racist so seriously, like don't they have other people in their life they can rant to? I use to do track and field in college and if a player started acting like that they were removed. People are there to play the game just like how people play tf2 to play the game. I jump on tf2 (and usually 2fort) to mindlessly play medic to unwind after work and nothing is a bigger turn off then a late 20ish boy ranting about how he hates minorities like this is some sort of college lecture while congoing down the bridge or just rocket jumping around in bright pink cosmetics.

If you just !ignore racists, then the racist is still there.

Imagine you're working at mcdonalds, and a customer comes in and starts acting racist and you just tell the other customers to either leave the store so they're not offended or to plug their ears. You're not fixing the problem and future customers are not going to want to come into the store as the racist is still in there.

If you don't report and punish players who are making rude remarks in game, then it affects the skial community. It tells people that its alright to act like that and thus you'll get more people acting like it or you'll lose players as they won't want to play on a server that tolerates those actions.

Its not about being offended, its about thinking about the long term ramifications it has on the servers.

You have utterly missed his point. His point was the people acting racist couldn't give two fucks about how you feel about racism. What they DO care about is your reaction. They WANT a reaction out of you. They WANT you to be upset by it. That is the entire point of them doing it, to get your goat and laugh at you. And with this post, you have let them take every single goat you had and are dying of laughter.

I hate this false belief that one retard is the image of an entire community. My University I go to pushes heavily that we students "represent the University". Fuck off......so when I'm done with school and no longer paying you will you "Represent me" any and all future job openings? If the Deans and Administrators turn out to be money-laundering, meth-dealing pedophiles, than am I also one because I graduated from that school?

A few rotten apples may spoil the batch; but apples can be single and eaten on their own without the others.

I'm not offended though. I'm just pointing out that racism and homophobic remarks seem to be very common report reasons. I then used the example of the user I reported and that once their communication ban was lifted, they went ahead and got themselves a permanent ban. I was bring up the question of why people feel the need to act like this even when they've been punished for it.

Reacting to something isn't the same as being offended by it. His point was "people don't want your opinion on how you don't like racist or homophobic people", but I'm not voicing my opinion on that. I'm saying why is it so hard for players to not act in such a way that will get them banned even when they have previously been banned for that same reason. That is why the title is "Some people never learn" not "why I don't like racism".

An example is if someone posted why the minimal wage should be higher and a random person asks "why you hate white people???". He is missing the point.

I agree with you, a few idiots shouldn't paint us all as bad people. However most of the new players are young so when they see someone being racist and making rude remarks they'll think its ok. I don't think the majority of players are horrible people, but I've been on a couple servers where its all quiet and normal and one person comes on and starts to act racist and instantly a bunch of players with mics start joining in.

Seriously though, I want to like country music but my mom use to play it all the time on ALL the radios in the house. Each floor had a radio playing the same station. If I hear about how someone thinks his tracker is sexy or that someone shouldn't being riding horses but instead cowboys I start to get nam flashbacks

They don't really care about punishment so long as people get upset at what they say and do and that's what they got. On top of that, there's people that just outright hate skial and just come on throwaways just to "speedrun to ban". There's hardly any loss for them. They know it's against the rules, they know it's controversial.
