I just had something very strange happen. Was in game lobby selecting gods, discussing who should pick what. 30 seconds to go with only 2 of our gods locked in, then all of a sudden I was back in main lobby with a 10 min deserter penalty. WHAT?

That means you probably lost connection for like 1 second. In game it just lets you come back but if you lose connection in the lobby it thinks you exited the game.

Draconie: that seems logical, it was just very strange. I was in the middle of typing a sentence about going mid then all of a sudden I'm looking at a deserter penalty.
