Mildly Menacing Medic
A ban vote was initiated on the Hightower map today targeting one of my side's engineers that was quite crafty with the Small Sentries (player: r0llyn (gg that one m8)). I thought it was just rage tears, but after the game someone mentioned that they really thought that the vote should have passed and it got me thinking; is this normal and tactical play with small sentry really a reason to get kicked for?

I know the Skial rules, Im not asking about that. I wanted to know if this is something all players agree on as some kind of unwritten rule.

"Crafty" could mean a few things, but if R0llyn were just playing regular with the mini-sentry, those that tried to vote on him because of it were abusing the votemenu. There aren't any rules to prohibit the use of mini-sentries.
 
It's considered vote abuse. You can't be kicked or banned for building minisentries on hightower.

If people want to vote kick people for using the minisentry, then you should report them so that they can be banned for vote abuse.
 
A lot of the people complain about mini sentrys, especialy on koth and hightower maps. If you are going to use a minisentry, there will always be 1 guy complaining about it (this is the only unwritten rule about minisentrys)
 
Some people get buttfrustated over mini sentries and start throwing out votebans. Happens to me every now and then. It's not a commonly practiced thing or even a unofficial rule players made up, it's just the once in awhile person gets angry and starts throwing out votebans.

What ever the case is, it's vote abuse and they can be banned for it. When it happens try to get what ever proof you can and report them.

A quick search on the following time frame and server reveals the chat fragment that made me ask about the whole thing. I don't see the point to frame Artyom for anything, since he was playing and contributing to the fun for the most time. But since you asked:

In all seriousness though, minisentries are allowed. Any votes called purely because someone is using a mini is vote abuse, and needs to be reported.
 
Thanks for the answers guys, just checking the pulse of the community on this one. Also a great opportunity to sign up a forum account after so many hours of using Skial servers =)
 
If it wasn't allowed and "cheap", then why isn't it banned from the server. Skial knows how to do that but they're allowing it. It's a viable strategy.
