THE DRIVE HAS STARTED! 30$ gets you the game and the hat, the soundtrack, and a few other goodies!

The Leviathan hat, as mentioned below, is EXCLUSIVE to this campaign, so once they're gone, they're gone.

With Skullgirls coming to Steam sometime this summer, the devs of it have stated that there will be TF2 hats.

The first being part of the kickstarter to help fund the new dlc character for their game, Squigly and Leviathan. People who take part in the kickstarter will receive Leviathan as a hat/misc(Unknown as of now)

The goal is HALF WAY THROUGH And it still has 30 days! The end result might be Larger than the AVGN Kickstarter!

30 dollars for a hat, idk its getting ridicules as to the amount of money people are throwing just for a promo

It's like day one dlc. It exists because people buy it.
I understand its a marketing ploy cause they know people will donate money to get the hat. Heck this thread is here to bring light to the fact that if you donate money you will get a tf2 hat. I'm just saying is that many people are gonna see this and consider donating not to help fund Lab Zero produce a quality dlc but rather to get a hat.

I'm not much of a fighting game player so I really wouldn't play the game regardless of hat, though if they look nice enough I'll probably end up buying them off of someone who wanted Skullgirls and doesn't care for TF2.

I have an update:

I sent a message to Peter Bartholow asking if they'll be releasing a sort of 'demo' for the hats and he responded with this message:
"Yeah, our modeler has already made some progress on the hat, and I'm hoping to be able to show that soon. Also, looks like we're going to be adding a Big Band hat and Sax Back item, too. :)"

This is Big Band:

So it looks like there might be more hats than just the Leviathan hat, I'll keep ya'll updated on things if I find out about them first.

Oh, and about 2 hours or so after my post these were put up:

I hope it gets animated (and not jiggleboned) so it doesn't look so stiff, otherwise i doubt it'll have a good response
Shame, looks like a decent game too, kinda has that darkstalkers vibe

Keep in mind, pretty or not, this hat will be very limited.
Actually considering it.

EDIT: Actually going to wait until they ensure that the hat is available again

Good choice, though they have said that they will refund anyone that only donated for the hat, though I'm thinking it's only a matter of permission from Valve and I doubt they'll deny the request.

I donated. In the most recent email, this is what they said:
We’ve received word from Valve on the Leviathan Team Fortress 2 hat, and have informed us that the Team Fortress 2 team “just doesn’t have the cycles to accommodate the Skullgirls TF2 hat.”
We’re naturally disappointed, and understand that many of you will be, too. Nix’s early model was looking solid, and we were also really excited for the Big Band hat/item concept he was proposing, too.
So how did we get here?
We announced on a recent stream that we intended to make TF2 hats, thinking that didn’t count as 100% confirmation. People were excited and the story took on a life of its own, and we felt it would be hard to go back on that. Given that there were a handful of recent and upcoming releases that featured promotional hats, we took a chance and included it in the campaign. At the time we felt confident that getting approval would not be a problem, but obviously we were wrong.
We haven’t given up – since the PC version and beta are still a few months away, we are currently investigating to see if the Team Fortress 2 team will have an opening in their schedule between now and then to see if we can salvage this.
We’re also simultaneously investigating alternative digital items to replace the Leviathan hat, and hope we’ll be able find something as desirable if not more so. Of course, in the interest of not repeating the same mistake, we won’t discuss what those items are quite yet.
In the event that any or all of these items are approved, they will all be awarded to anyone at the “Backer” ($30) level or higher, regardless of what the Perks said at the time of your order.
So as of now, we can’t guarantee that we’ll be able to honor the TF2 hat or any other in-game digital items. We never had any intention of misleading you, and I regret and take full responsibility for the situation.
If the hat drove your decision to contribute, please feel free to contact support@indiegogo.com to have your contribution refunded.
Sincerely,
Peter Bartholow

I am a little peeved about this.

I donated. In the most recent email, this is what they said:

I am a little peeved about this.

I must say that I'm rather conflicted about this, on one hand my main reason to contribute was to get the hats, but on the other I'm happy to support the development and I do want to play the story modes.

So now I have a conundrum, get a refund on my donation and spend the 30$ on something else while at the same time screwing myself out of hats if they do get approved later in the cycle or keep my donation in place and spend 30$ on a game that I probably won't get much more than 12 hours of gameplay out of. I mean I'll feel terrible about getting my money back when the developers seem like a really nice team but I have no idea what I'll get out of my investment, what do I do? Do I stay in and hope for the hats so I'll have a very real reward beyond the game or do I ditch it and get something else with my money that I know I will enjoy?

God, why am I so terrible at making choices. :/

Get a refund, then keep your eye on how it goes.. if they announce that the hats are back in, donate again :troll:
or just put the $30 towards a str kritz or gunslinger...
