With the collaboration of me, Lady Violet, and Risen Demon, we are welcome to bring you Spiral Knights HQ!

TL;DR is in bold, past that is the information.

Before you go saying 'Oh spiral knights died, game sucks, not worth the time' don't bother posting, you are entitled to your opinion but I am not interested in reading it. You didn't give the game a complete chance because it was still being made on initial steam release. Us three have played the game for a week and love it, so you could to!

Running this guild costs quite a bit of Crowns, the game currency, 25,000 to be exact. Surprisingly enough we are only asking for you a 500 Crown tax because we are adept enough to make up for the rest. Playing further into the game you'll see how little this sum turns out to be, but just starting out that is half of what you have. If you are just starting and I can obviously see it I'll only need a smaller, confidential amount.

This guild is still just starting out and every bit is welcome. You are welcome to join and put in additive donation, with this it will allow us to broaden our ability to make the game more convenient.

If we get enough Skial members this could become a more convenient means of communication to!

*Insert request for move to Other Games*

So are you saying you already started the guild because you all had enough crowns already and are asking others to help recoup your cost by charging them to join?

I am saying that we are trying to bring back a game deserving of another chance. The price might not even be final, if not lower and shouldn't be of concern. There isn't a recoup because the money spent was easily earned. Around 21k of crowns can easily be attained by selling a tf2 refined, so having a tax of 500 should be nothing to 1 person, but from multiple people this amount stacks to have a return to the guild. None of this money can go directly to me because when it is in treasury it is locked in.

Overall I think you would have had a better chance of people joining if you just let people join for free instead taxing them to get in. And if it was so easy for you guys to make 25,000 crowns why do you even need to tax people who might want to join?

Why are we taxing people five hundred crowns a week, when almost all other guilds charge around 10k a week depending on size?
Because all guilds require upkeep to maintain.

What is upkeep?
Upkeep is a weekly crown payment that a guild pays from its Treasury. Upkeep is derived from guild hall expansions. Once an expansion is purchased (starting with 1st Floor East or 1st Floor West), upkeep begins. If a guild is unable to pay their upkeep, they will instantly go into default.

What happens when a guild goes into default?
When a guild cannot pay its upkeep and goes into default, two doors will appear on the entrances to the 1st Floor East and 1st Floor West expansions (if applicable). These doors prevent the guild from accessing everything but their lobby and Command Console, effectively making it like a base guild hall.
No upgrades, furnishings, expansions or rooms are removed. However, the guild is penalized with a fee of 200% of the upkeep that was owed at the time of default. Once this fee is paid by depositing enough crowns into the Treasury, the two doors that appeared at the time of default will be removed and the guild will have begun their upkeep cycle again, with a new week beginning at the time they left default. The guild then has another week before standard upkeep costs are owed once more.
A guild may remain in default for as long as it chooses, with no additional penalties or costs accrued.

While in default a guild may also not add new guild members.

Tax is more of an "are you still here" check. It may not even be enforced. Along with this if you're just starting out to tier 2, you are going to get less to no tax at all. All guilds are enforced a cap on people allowed to join that limits our ability to allow everyone to join to never leave again. This cap can be raised but we don't have enough funding do do such. Having a tax is to make sure your still planning on playing and that you aren't freeloading our current resources and resources to come.

Thanks for explaining that I know this will sound mean but I was kind of considering trying it but that guild system sounds like to much of a pain also what purpose do the expansions serve (just so you can add more members?)

You get more members, built in auction house, built in training hall, built in crafting lab, built in bazaar, built in damn near everything.
The guild hall's also are suppose to serve as some kind of last line of defense for an upcoming update. Along with other things.

How long is a run and how many hours do you have to put into the game before a run nets you 7,000 crowns?
A single run for me is like twenty minutes if everything works, along with the heat and crafting materials you get from it.
Spiral Knights is a very grindy game. You work for what you want, close to no freeloading.
A single Vana run for me used to net about twelve thousand, but it was nerfed some time ago due to it seeming "Unfair" to new players.

I wan't to play but my download is stuck at 81% :( it says validating
*UPDATE* Fixed, see you in the game :)
*UPDATE 2* Game is lots of fun and it seems its really easy to gain crowns
