Declined Skial needs to fix some things

Before I start i must say Skial is great and has best servers.

Here's some suggestion to make it better:
1. Increase afk time from 200 to 300 seconds. JC let a man have a pee for fuck sake. :)
2. Put a ping limit. Fucking retards (all people on the planet under 16 yrs old) join with 200+ ping.
This does NOT help populate the servers, it only makes it annoying for the rest of us.
3. Keep up the good work, love you guys/gals.

A ping kicker would likely only cause more harm than good. Forcing people off the servers because they're lagging a bit would only empty servers out quicker I imagine

+1, 100 extra seconds isn't too much- I don't go AFK whilst playing, but often have to battle it when recording a demo.

@ly_dee has changed my opinion on this, I think there should be a limit though, 400+ maybe? I don't honestly know.

I dunno about you guys but I very rarely run across any people who I think shouldn't be in the server simply because they have high ping. I can only recall one person who was rubberbanding all over the map and that was 2 years ago.

The majority of the time I don't even notice they're lagging because at worst they just have slower reaction time on my screen

I mean its not up to me, it's up to Bottiger but I just think alienating so many players from playing on Skial because someone somewhere got upset over a guy with 400 ping getting a lag shot on them isn't worth it. The pros just don't outweigh the cons.

And you also need to keep in mind other issues to. What happens when US based admins have to get called in for reports on EU servers? Bottiger would have to code some sort of exception for admins which is more work for him, if it could even be done in the first place.

Whoa dude, i'm a European who has been playing on US servers for 3 years with 200+ ping. I've never heard anyone complain. And even in general, people complaining about players with high ping is fairly rare.

I agree with how this will "empty servers out quicker". A few days ago, a player I remember seeing had 500+ ping and was stil happily playing the game. Over 30 points had been achieved and it just kept going. On the other hand, every now and then a 200+ ping sniper comes on. This sniper literally hits headshots you won't see coming.

Rubberbanding is an extreme case, more often snipers who can hit shots you can't see coming because they're lagging.

Admins are immune from kicks anyway, so I don't think this is an issue, as long as the ping plugin uses the sourcemod commands.

On one hand I understand your point, on the other hand- why are you playing US servers? US servers should be played by people from the US, EU servers should be played by people from the EU. You're taking up a server slot for someone who may want to play with a low ping.

And it already happens with people who have perfectly fine ping. More often than not its a guy with normal ping who's headshotting me when I'm crouched behind a wall

Retaining players > not having to worry as much about being killed by a laggy sniper every once in awhile

Why feel bad. I have never heard anyone complain about Europeans being on our server or vice versa. Limiting people from what servers they want to play on would be a bad move.

Never found a server that has a ping limit to be good servers. -1. I dont wanna get kicked because I have a random lag spike, or because some ones installing too much porn on my internet.

Dunno if the extended afk is a good idea or not. Maybe a bit higher would not be the worst idea.

There are these thai children playing around 12 am (+1gmt) who all have 300+ ping, however they're still players and without them no one would be seeding the server. However it may be annoying when tou get melee'd from a few meters away. (I used to have major lagspikes that often took 5 minutes and gave me 900+ ping).

Woa, I knew more people on the us server and they used to be better. Also they mostly speak english only.

I play on US servers because Americans are entertaining.

But seriously though, friends are the main reason why i play on US servers. I found out about skial randomly, ended up on dustbowl+ LA, had tons of fun, kept joining the server everyday, made friends. Then those friends joined other US servers like turbine, payload,etc. I followed them and made more US friends. 95% of the friends i play with are Americans/Canadians. And no, i don't feel bad. Restricting EU servers for EU players only and US servers for US players would be the dumbest thing ever and that's why this suggestion is going to be declined.

Ping doesn't mean diddly squat...
200 ping is basically 1/5 of a second and is nothing.
A friend of mine from australia would own everyones ass with 450 ping on a EU quake3 server
You can get shit lags with a ping of 15 if you have shitty wireless.
The problem with ping comes when it fluctuates, you are better playing with a consistent ping of ~200 than you are with a ping that keeps jumping from say 20 to 80

I agree with the AFK timer increase. I don't agree with the ping kicker because it would only cause problems. And like several people have already said, it's rare to hear people complaining about other people having high ping. I personally never had an issue with it. I've seen people with 300+ ping who were doing pretty fine. Besides, sometimes they just stop moving so it's easy to get a kill on them when that happens.
