Face-Melting F2Per
I may be getting a Motorcycle/Scooter when I turn 16.

Any suggestions or Tips for a Beginner? Like avoid punching other drivers? Also Motorcycles and Scooter suggestions are welcome too.

Get this....

In all seriousness now, if you're a beginner, you shouldn't be getting anything with an engine over 300cc and I'd recommend a scooter over a motorcycle.

i got a scooter while i was i think 12, i drove over my youngest brothers hand and denied driving it ever again

I've never wanted a scooter or a motorcycle. The license and the vehicle itself both cost a lot and then there's gas and other bullshit costs. You can't really drive long distances or have a lot of stuff with you either. And at least here in Finland you can drive a motorcycle if you have a driver's license.
I also have over two miles to school by bike and it can get really cold in the winter (talking minus Fahrenheit). A couple of my neighbours have bought a scooter just to get to school fast and easy, but I feel it's a good way to keep myself in shape to cycle some.

Get a small bike to start out with (around 250cc) and take a safety course if possible. I've ridden for about 5 years now and I love it, not to mention I save a lot in gas running back and forth to work in the Summer on nice days.

I highly recommend you buy a dirt bike and learn to ride that first. Dirt is more forgiving than asphalt is and you don't have to tend with other vehicles not paying attention for Motorcyclist. Learning in dirt will give you an advantage of control. You'll learn how to shift when sliding all over the place, proper brake control and just the feel of the bike.

People do NOT look for Motorcyclist and there is more to riding than just jumping on and going. Remember you're on two wheels not four and weather plays a big part in riding. Avoid scooters, those things are nothing like riding a motorcycle. I, myself, ride and will NEVER get on a scooter. Those things are death traps waiting to happen. I don't know where you're from but check out craigslist. I wouldn't go over anything with more than 500cc's to learn on. Anything more than that is just too much power for a young man such as yourself who has never rode before.

Also not to scare you but, keep in mind that you're most likely going to go down. So with that in mind, check your local craigslist or used vehicle sites/papers for a used bike. Most common are the Ninja 250's but Crotch Rockets aren't my style. The last Crotch Rocket I owned, I had for about 3 months before selling it for a cruiser. After I slammed on the brakes and my nutts ate the gas tank, never rode it again.

Also keep in mind your body frame. If you get something that's too big you'll have a harder time riding it. Regardless of what I and anybody else suggest, be safe. It's dangerous out there.

This is what the "cool kids" drive in France when they're young, the MBK Nitro

I drove one for a summer, it's lots of fun to drive around

Lucky, but please be careful I was driving a car behind a friend of mine who was on a bike, and watched him lose control, crash, and skid across the highway. I thank god it was at 3 am and no one was out there besides us, and luckily he was wearing full protection and helmet. After I rushed his ass to the hospital, he had only some nasty road rash and a minor concussion. So just make sure you fully know what you are doing and dont start off on something thats out of your league.

Wow really, in Belgium: when your 16 you can only drive a 50cc with a max speed of 45km/h. Now they are going to change the rules and higher cc's. Not sure but the minimum would be 21, and 24 or 25 for higher cc's... Bullshit all togheter

Edit: i forgot the biggest bullshit of all. Without taking driving school, you can't get your lincense. It's somewhere about 9 hours, where you pay around 50€ / hour. 50!!!

Scooters are very dangerous you should just learn to drive a car and buy a cheap used one

In the UK you are limited to 50cc when you are 16, and only allowed to progress to a 125 when you are 18 and have passed a test. even after 18 and having passed teh first test, you cannot ride anything over a 125 until you pass the full motorcycle test, which has to be taken withing two years of you passing the first test.
UK is shit hot on who can ride bikes, but we do have a low death rate.
"wear full protection" even at 30mph you hit the road in jeans and tshirt, you will get major road rash, if not ground down bones on the tarmac. imagine rubbing your elbow at 30mph along the road for 20ft.
a huge amount of accidents happen on bikes because of teh indicator designs.. you turn right for example, and forget to turn your indicator off (as they dont switch off automaticaly) the next turning you come to, that car driver waiting to pull out thinks you are signaling to turn and pulls out on you.
Buy a decent helmet, a cheap shitty one is worse than none at all.
decent tires, riding in the wet is dangerous. when you think of how much contact your bike has with teh road (2 wheels, each has about 3-4 square inches of contact). I came off doing 10-15 miles an hour in teh wet, broke my arm and fucked my bike up.

One last thing - is EVERYBODY I know that has riden or rides a bike has had an accident, just be prepared as much as possible.
