15 players on Saxton Hale server, some guy from China or whatever has 500 ping and runs around like a maniac and nobody can hit him. He's been a major douchebag making your mom jokes and dick jokes. We voteban him. 3 people say no. Not enough votes. Are you kidding me? There's a 4:1 majority and the votes aren't enough?

I play a lot on your server and this has happened a lot - some wanker has high ping or spams dick jokes and how everybody sucks and camps in some unreachable place as engineer or is standing somewhere as Cloak 'n' Dagger spy or is doing votebans on other people who tried votebanning him (which are the only times where the system is great because people are just blindly pressing yes when they see "bypassing AFK manager").

So please guys, do something about the voteban system, it's seriously not worth the australium points time-reducement if it never works anyway.

This suggestion has been closed. Votes are no longer accepted.
i agree, i was on at the time to when that guy was playing. there should have an auto-kick whenever your ping bullshits on the rest of the server for an extended period of time. (there's this one guy that ALWAYS has 500 pings, and then there's people who are from either singapore or can't be arsed turning off their million torrents before playing an online game).

Try /report next time if voting fails

and yeah, i've seen that guy around, he's a douche

It was made high on purpose to limit abuse.
I can understand that, but like pr1mus said, now it's too high to actually do what it's supposed to do. Wouldn't it be better to just remove the voteban if /report is just a better version of it?

/report just sends a message to one of the subforums, hopefully alerting one of the online admins that there is a problem on the server.

Exactly, the vote system is pretty much useless because the votes needed are too high. Suggestions on what you can do to make the voteban system better:
- Can only voteban after 70% of the server is dead. This so that people don't press at random because they're too focused on surviving.
- Need to state a reason for it. Yes, you can select a reason but it's not good enough, use the one like the report system where you type it in yourself so it gives a more detailed reason why.
- Don't say who initiated the voteban.

While your suggestions are relatively well thought out and reasonable, there are good reasons that they probably won't be implemented.
- If the server is actually populated with half-way competent people this will almost never happen, especially on a 32 person server. A more feasible idea would be to limit votes to round endings and beginnings, but that's too infrequently for most people/problems so . . .
- The stock reasons currently given by the plugin are the acceptable reasons you should need to ban somebody, allowing anybody to type in reasons promotes the idea that someone could be votebanned for any old reason, not just the ones listed.
- Being able to see who initiated the votes is important for tracking down and stopping votespammers. If the vote is being called for a legitimate reason there shouldn't be any need for the person calling it to be anonymous.

or just replace voteban with votekick and make it a bit easier to achieve, people who needlessly prolong rounds can just rejoin and the server can continue playing. if you really want to get someone banned you would need admin opinion anyway, the amount of times people start spiteful votebans against me for hacking and racism is staggering, but somehow flattering. kids feel like they're in charge with their votemenu commands and are more than happy to shove them in your face.

people on the server should be given a temporarily solution to the problem whilst an admin could make it's way to the server, or until an admin notices the complaint. having to deal with the abnormal amount of 'Yes' votes only protects griefers, i for one would rather not sit in another 30 minute VSH round whilst all our votes fail because we can only muster 90 out of 91%

It's not a matter of whether you're smart or not, it's about being careless because you're in the middle of the game and you have Saxton chasing you and then some wanker want to ban someone for some reason you couldn't give less of a shit about. You press some random button and the whole vote goes straight to hell, because there will always be someone who disagrees out of 32 people.

Fair enough, it's not really the source of the problem.

Votespamming is not possible because there's a 5 minute cooldown. That's too long to make something spammy. Instead, make it so that after three times of trying to voteban you can see the votebanners name. In this way, if the troll/wanker/whatever doesn't get banned he can't "votespam" the person.

the votemenu cooldown is reset when the vote passes. that's why the votemute gets spammed so often.

i'd rather just have an admin on the server, negate all the hoops people have to jump through to make this asinine system work.

pr1mus, you'd make a great admin, go apply now. So, let's go.
people say that, but Lord Killington decided to derail my thread about a discussion about "newfags" and it got locked, thanks again for that, Lord Killington, btw if you weren't aware, that's where you forum ban came from, but i digress.
