Recently skial made an attempt to make a hardcore/parkour orientated deathrun server with mixed to negative reviews, it seems the main problem most players have is the naming convention and the lack of blu enemies to activate bosses and traps. The idea for a hardcore deathrun server is a great idea but I personally think it was implemented poorly, my suggestion would be to change the prefix back to dr instead of par and remove the bot from blu so maps like cybertower are actually beatable. At the end of the day the server is still a dr server even if most players use the word parkour when describing the maps on there, and in that case it should be setup the same as the deathrun servers, a name change might also be in order but that's one of the smallest problems the server faces in comparison to the problem with the blu bot and the par prefix.

My initial thoughts on the original suggestion was that the server was just going to be platforming based maps from DR, or the ones usually seen as the harder to complete. I would like to see it basically set up as such, so there's one server for the easier "flatter" DR maps, and there's this server for the platforming DR maps. Massive +1 because there's only 1 certain person currently defending how things have turned out, despite most other people, players and mappers, thinking it has been implemented as a damn mess.

let's go over this shall we

PROS OF REMOVING THE DR PREFIX:
provides a distinction (yay?)
might trick people into joining thinking it's a parkour server

CONS OF REMOVING THE DR PREFIX:
you have to download the map twice (many of these maps are heavy on file size btw)
harder to find since you can't find the server by typing "dr_" in search
broken level_sounds without repacker
broken particles without repacker
just outright breaks maps that require activator interaction (cybertower)
can disrupt custom soundscript entries (crucial to certain maps)
any minigames where death and runners interact are broken
confuses people who think it's a parkour server but it's just another dr server, who get upset and leave
a massive loss in content with no traps people worked hard to make
without traps most of the maps are way EASIER now, DEFEATING THE ENTIRE PURPOSE

+1

The point in forcing a rename is to force future mappers to choose between these 2 categories and not just lump everything into the dr_ prefix like what is happening right now.

These 2 player bases should rename separate and not appear when someone types dr_ into the server browser.

It is like if you lumped counter-strike with tf2 and say that they are basically the same because you shoot a gun. The 2 player bases hate each other's maps and there is not a big overlap between them.

The complaints about having to redownload the map are unfounded. You only need to download them again once, and we don't run the original par_ named maps anymore so if you've never played them, you won't download them twice. The maps are not broken anymore as I have created a map renaming program to edit the map internals.

"force future mappers to choose between these 2 categories".
Why are you trying to force the "par_" prefix on deathrun maps that were made for a community-made game mode that actually exists (known as Deathrun)? There's literally no point in the "par_" prefix largely due to how pointless it is and that there's already a community-made game mode called Parkour Fortress. If people want parkour, they're going to type "pf_" into the server browser's search box, not "par_". And as pointed out in another thread, the "par_" prefix will lead to unsuspecting players into thinking that there's a new game mode when in reality it's just deathrun maps with a stupid-ass OC donut steel prefix no one asked for, that you forced on to the maps.

Just have the server be "Hardcore Deathrun" and not "Parkour". Keep the mapper-intended dr_ prefix.

Everyone already calls these maps "parkour" maps and they are not the same as "parkour fortress" which is a dead game mode.

These maps are different from normal deathrun maps whether you believe it or not. The fact that people want them seperated and that both sides hate each other's maps is proof of it.

The fact of just letting people redownloading the maps again is just stupid. Also, making the activator the bot just ruins the purpose as this is meant to be Hardcore DR, not just some thing where Parkour/Jump Academy players joining their servers only to find out its DR.

Also Maybe sounds and particles aren't broken, but since the activator in the Parkour server is a "bot". Cybertower's boss is impossible and PQ's activator minigames are just fucking useless as stated here .You could had edited the maps and change some stuff if you really wanted it to be a Parkour server.

Also "unfonded", Well hello to this

Not only that, this suggestion has 12 upvotes and YET Declined. Also, its not even a meme map suggestion that gets downvoted and "approved". This Suggestion could had improved that server for these maps, don't know why you think it does. Not gonna lie, If Panda or Retro were tired of parkour maps but made a separate server for them. Then they would just had kept it as Hardcore DR and not this horseshit.

I haven't been able to find a single person who actually agrees with the name change. Not even Wabbit or Cream Tea. They may have their grievances with these maps, and want them removed from the rotation, but they don't think skill/parkour-based Deathrun maps are actually a different gamemode entirely; they're just a flavor of Deathrun that they personally don't like. Even they think the dr_ prefix should stay. You say you're doing this because it's the community consensus, but every single person I've talked to disagrees with you--including the person who suggested making a separate server in the first place.

I know I can't change your mind on this--but all the same, you can't change ours.

Never seen someone go entirely against community consensus and just do their own thing just because. Especially in the current state of tf2 community servers where players are already hard to come by.
