You can change your character without being fake, yanno. I met a guy once on an empty 4chan server I decided to practice rocket jumping in who was definitely no ladies man. He took note of my porn spray and somehow that turned into intelligent conversation. We decided to add each other, and soon he came to me asking if I had any tips for him on how to be more manly. I asked why he asked, and he replied explaining how he's always been single, how he's socially awkward around women, and I mentored him for a bit. I taught him my ways.
He found himself a girlfriend. Someone I could never get along with, mind you, only to prove he is still nothing like me. He's changed, though. He's changed plenty. He's no longer the awkward virgin I met on a 4chan server, the clueless kid that couldn't come up with his own conversation starters for his life, but a charming son of a bitch.
It's been only a few months since I met him, too. Anyways, back to you being a "funner" person, no. It doesn't mean fake. You wouldn't be a poser. When I say someone who's fun, I don't mean someone you know. I mean someone who doesn't exist yet. You have an idea as to what fun is obviously, because you're aware that it isn't you. Personify that idea, and make yourself into the personification you've created. Identify what it is about yourself that's just so damn boring, and fix it. If you need someone to help you improve, the world is full of people and there's bound to be one you know that can handle your problems.
Up to you, broseph.
