Quantum Teleportation anyone?

Not surprised. I was a big fan of a "Quantum Leap" series, so I know what's up. With all seriousness though, if teleportation gets invented we'll be all doomed.

That raises the whole issue with consciousness. Consciousness, as some people refer to as a soul, is an illusion. If our brain cells were taken apart and put back together, we wouldn't be the self we are right now. It's all about how we (our brain) view existence. Our whole physical and mental selves are considered one. If you put your brain back together, would it still be the same exact brain? Yes. Would you still consider it to be you as you are in this moment, your entire self, your consciousness right now? No. That's why consciousness is an illusion. It's how your brain considers yourself. It's a difficult concept to clearly explain, but I did my best.
 
Teleportation of humans will most likely never be legal. But with objects it would be a huge deal.

The brain cells are made of the same elements. The same compounds. But they aren't the same. It doesn't teleport you. It destroys at one end and creates at another. You are being made out of entirely different parts.


...So yeah, consciousness is an illusion but I'll cling to it thank you very much.

So what you're saying is if you put an idiot at the entry point of the teleport, you may end up getting a genius on teleport's exit?
Shit, I know a couple of people that could use it.
