I removed it because the main purpose of the forum is to discuss other stuff and not look at your own picture and how many posts you have. You can always check your stats by clicking on your name.

It allows you to see all the recent threads without scrolling down.

Its the only part of the page that could be different that the theme with your profile pick and etc and it also dropped down the recent threads and trade posts towards the middle of the screen instead of the very top.
plus it looks empty and awkward now. That might be cause im not used to it but I still don't see why you would have to remove something noone had a problem with.
