I believe that we should do at least one of the following:
I understand that some people use the following arguments:
- Auto-kick [SCAMMER]'s when they join trade servers
Simple concept, kick them when they attempt to join.
- Auto-silence [SCAMMER]'s when they join trade servers*
Automatically silence them permanently when they join
- Prevent [SCAMMER]'s from being able to send messages.
If they send a chat message, don't show it to anyone
If they use their microphone, don't broadcast it to anyone
*silence could be removed by a normal appeal after they have successfully appealed their SteamRep tag.If they use their microphone, don't broadcast it to anyone
I understand that some people use the following arguments:
- "They help seed"
There aren't enough [SCAMMER]'s for it to be a serious hit to our population numbers if we do not allow them onto the trade servers in the first place. I would also argue that the benefit brought by seeding does not outweigh the fact that they have scammed someone enough to allow them to potentially scam more people.
- "They get kicked when the server is full anyway"
Why let them on to begin with? We're enabling them with the ability to potentially scam more people before the server is full and even if they do not scam people - they do not deserve the ability to trade after scamming someone.
- "They are marked with a [SCAMMER] tag, if someone trades with them it's their own fault"
Yes, but many other people who are new to trading/Skial servers do not always understand what this means, it is not clear enough in my mind - it just looks like part of their name, there is nothing changing my name to "[SCAMMER] Luke". People who do not know about the system could believe that it's an ironic tag, or group/clan tag without thinking any more about it.
Furthermore, due to how SteamRep works there is no distinction between someone who did an extremely serious scam and someone who did something lesser. This would allow someone to claim "Oh just ignore that, I ran from a 1 ref spycrab lol"
