Capable of running cell phone games on your TV. You know, like most phones can already do with the proper cable.

It's supposed to be able to do that as well as running games. Which, sure, can be done already, but it's aimed more for the casual gamers / non-technologically savvy, I think. From what I've seen anyways.

by casual gamers do you mean those idiots who play games on their iphone ?

Prediction:

Going to be overhyped, everyone's going to rave about it while it's in development. Once it comes out, nobodies gonna give a fuck.

And runs Android. Like most phones. So it runs phone games. My HTC Incredible has a video cable available. I can literally play Angry Birds on my TV right now.

Uhh. I play some games on my iPhone.
By casual, I mean people who just sit down and play sometimes I guess. People who don't get too into games / don't have the time, but still like to play them once in a while. In my opinion.

Right. I don't consider that to be a big point at all. What I do like is that it's open source, etc etc.

Just like Android. Since that's what it's using. You can purchase a Raspberry Pi and have the same thing for a third of the price. There's an Android port they're working on for that right now, plus controller support.

Is the Pi that powerful?

My mate got one and was fucking around with it. He's kinda derpy, though, but he managed to get Ubuntu on there at least.

Here's a video of a Raspberry Pi playing Quake 3.

I never knew the RP could handle stuff like that. I would definitely go that route then. But that'd be too complex for the average consumer.
I think that's where OUYA is trying to fit in. Seems like a neat enough project, but I want to see how it is once it comes out before I make my opinion.

If this project doesn't fail I sure hope it does.

People put up with bad graphics on mobile because they already have a phone and that's the only computer they can carry around.

At home most people have a computer that could easily run something better.
