As someone who can do trick stabs very consistantly, I know how to counter them the most effective and trying to keep your crosshairs on the spy at all times is not what you're going to want to do at all. As a much better spy then me, slugri has said trying to track the spy 100% all the time is actually how you get juked out and give the spy your back hitbox better. And we spys even have ways to counter the counter of actually knowing how to counter trick stabs, for example reverse corner stabs and reverse stair stabs. And you know another great way to stop people who assume you're going to lead them into a trick stab looks a bit like this:But literally every class counters Spy. And any scout, who's smart enough to spy check, can shut any "pro" spy, down.
Trickstabs are countered by keeping your crosshair on the spy at all times.
that would be the case in a pub against people who don't have their sound on and have 2 hours on tf2 as a gibus brast beast heavyI dont understand why spy mains think their class is the deepest fucking thing when all you do is right click till you're behind someone then right click again and poke their butt
in pubs little to no one moves in unpredictable patterns unless they know how to play the gameBecause they move all the time in unpredictable patterns and are rather small in most cases.
I played with Slurgi on those shitty ass slaughterhouse servers, where everyone mains heavy. Their movements are hard to predict in pubs because most of the time they have no fucking idea what they're doing.in pubs little to no one moves in unpredictable patterns unless they know how to play the game
Yes, I agree that sniper is the easiest class to pick up and shooting people with (possibly the heavy as well), however, at the higher levels, snipers have to know where to be, who to target, how to avoid being picked off, how to hit those jumpy scouts, etc. Yes, in a pub, it doesn't matter; everybody's just derping around, walking in straight lines. Sniper only gets hard when you play against other snipers or good playersI don't get why people keep placing sniper up in the top for the highest skill requirement. Really, I don't. If we're thinking in terms of skill requirement to pick it up and play straight away, then arguably people who can aim are going to do at least somewhat well compared to going a class like pyro, medic or spy where aim is less of critical issue. Sniper doesn't have a giant amount of counters other than the spy (and getting rushed down by any class, really). Arguably, the same could be said for the classes like the soldier or the scout as there's not much to learn other than frag and not die. But I feel like the sniper is simply the most basic class there is, all the other characters have attributes that need to be accounted for when in game that the average new player simply isn't going to acknowledge. How is a new player going to know that an air burst extinguishes teammates? Or how to rocket jump? Or how to evade well as a scout? Not knowing these crucial matters will bog you down if you play the other classes. With sniper it's like, shoot the enemy, and that's it. You find out that you die fast very early on, getting gibbed in two rockets or insta-headshotted is a prime example of that. Of course there's a higher level of play available to all classes including sniper, but I'd go on a whim to say that all classes except the sniper require the same amount of skill if you subtract aiming, since that's all sniper is, essentially, without some of the things like unlockables and shot charge taken into account.
In terms of knowing where to be, and who to target, and all that... That's not just a sniper thing. That's an every class thing. Every person needs to know where to position, and when to move in, at all times. If we're looking at comp, everyone needs to have basic game awareness, and knowledge of what every role does. So, I don't think that should be a factor in any of these line ups.Yes, I agree that sniper is the easiest class to pick up and shooting people with (possibly the heavy as well), however, at the higher levels, snipers have to know where to be, who to target, how to avoid being picked off, how to hit those jumpy scouts, etc. Yes, in a pub, it doesn't matter; everybody's just derping around, walking in straight lines. Fair enough, just meaning to establish that sniper is easy to pick up but hard to master... which I learned a couple days ago from your friendIn terms of knowing where to be, and who to target, and all that... Yeah, pretty much what I was going to say.In terms of knowing where to be, and who to target, and all that... That's not just a sniper thing. That's an every class thing. All classes are hard to master. I remember I was playing on Harvest NY yesterday and you and I were both sniper, I picked you off pretty easily but that was just reflexes. It's simple practice, really.Fair enough, just meaning to establish that sniper is easy to pick up but hard to master... which I learned a couple days ago from your friend
Also, you can't be a humongous pleb like meYeah, pretty much what I was going to say.

There's a finite amount of factors that really effect your aim in general and they are:Also, you can't be a humongous pleb like me
I disagree. Jarate can mean a huge deal, as well as having sightlines that other classes don't have, in competitive means a LOT of different calls. You shoot people with your sniper and that's all sniper has to offer. Literally nothing unique and hard about the class
Did you enjoy losing 2-20? :PFair enough, just meaning to establish that sniper is easy to pick up but hard to master... which I learned a couple days ago from your friend
