I haven't played fire emblem but isn't there a character who doesn't solely wield a sword, other than Robin cause that would take my approval with ease.
Most characters dont solely wield swords. Only advanced classes that do are swordsmasters, some lords and samurai. Lucina could technically be wielding a lance, Ike could be wielding a axe, Roy could use an axe, Corrin could use magic and staves... the list goes on.

This is Sakurai's fault again isn't it? Lol

Why, yes, it is. Though assuming those people are their base classes, they could only use swords. Design-wise, I'd say Roy and Ike are thier advanced class that can use axes whereas Lucina, Robin, Marth and Corrin are their base classes. Luckily, Sakurai uses the Dragonstone for Corrin and Tomes for Robin which is good. So it all lines up with fire emblem, I guess, just the Ike and Roy must hate diversity.

Bowser's so much fun after the patch. I mean he was already, but now with combos and shit people are gonna treat him just as combo food now.

I forgot how fucked over the US gets with releases of the Mario and Luigi games and only realized now that Paper Jam comes out in a month gg my dumb ass

I think I may be getting a Wii U for Christmas, hit me up with some recommendations (excluding Smash of course)

Alright so I just got smash 4 and I'm struggling to find a character I like.

I used to play brawl, and my best and favorite by far was snake, but he's not in this one. I would also play fox, but he doesn't seem to be all that great. Is there a better alternative to fox, and what would be the closest thing to snake in this game. I hear duckhunt is similar, but I have not unlocked it.

Fox is a great character, and much better than he was in Brawl. Duck Hunt is as similar to Snake as you get in this game, and most pro Snake players from Brawl flocked to 'em. If you want all of the characters fast just set up a 1 stock match vs a cpu and SD repeatedly, you only need 100 matches to unlock every character. Oh and a better alternative to Fox really depends on how you play, Shiek is the best character in the game so you should try Shiek, but just try every character until you find one you like.

I have trouble with fox. His range is so short, and I haven't really gotten to the level of combo yet. I really like fast ones though, it's like the scout. I feel like my "gamesense" or whatever is pretty good, my mind just isn't really to the point where I can just see a combo and execute it. I liked snake because he had that down throw and side tilt, those I could actually combo.

I'm not very good though, I struggle to beat the challengers when unlocking people. I also use a wii remote and nunchuck lol.

I like playing with Yoshi on 4 just because his attacks have awkward ranges that mess with people so hard. Also Ryu for his heavenly ground game.

This game has much more combo game than Brawl, in fact most characters have throw combos. Even Bowser now has combos.

Then your game sense isn't that good. Fox does lack range, but he makes up for it in speed, combos, and power. His up and f smashes are great for killing and can be combo'd into.

Down air and up tilts are your main combo moves, Fox can utilt a lot (depending on the character) into an up smash or up air at low - mid %.

I'm not a Fox main, but I can tell you the most basic thing with Fox - most of his combos come from landing a down air, and then following up somehow. Dair (down air) can lead into u tilt and upsmash if the move finishes and the opponent gets knocked upwards. If the move doesn't finish and the opponent lands on the ground, this creates an entirely new and helpful situation. The opponent can try to "tech" the ground. If they tech, they can either roll (left or right), use an attack while getting up, or just regularly stand up. Since Fox is so fast, he can easily cover all of these options, he just needs to react to them on time. Fox is a pretty easy character, the person playing him just needs really good reaction time.

If you (or anyone else) want anymore tips I can deal some, but I don't check here often. Try going to the Fox Boards on Smashboards for some more extended tips.

Super Mystery Dungeon is so unfair it isn't even fun. They also changed it so much it doesn't feel like a Mystery Dungeon game.

Edit: Ok the final boss music and battle kinda made up for all the bullshit I went through

I've only played the first Mystery Dungeon game, how does Super stack up to the original?

Btw when playing through Red Rescue team again, I just learned how to "set" moves. I used to think that when a move was set, it would go to the A button. I beat that entire fucking game just using the A button.

i hate mystery dungeon, the gameplay has always felt stiff to me and navigating through dungeons is such a chore before your movement is so limited because everyone else has to haul their ass around before you can, i know you can speed it up but that feels off and unnatural.

I can see why you'd feel that way, it is a fairly niche genre. I really liked the first one, so I figured I should try the new one.

Tbh Explorers of Sky is still the best of them all. SMD feels rushed story wise and I really didn't care for any if the characters besides my partner. The difficulty is a lot higher than the other games though. To put it this way, you fight a level 50 pokemon while you are only around 10 but they give you a fair amount if items to compensate for how unforgiving the game can be at times. I highly reccomend Sky if you never played it though.

Also at one point you can fight Mewtwo and holy shit fuck that fight

Probably the last post I'll make about it, but this is my fire emblem shrine along with my smash shrine. The fire emblem one is just waiting on the Corrin and Roy amiibos.
