"Valve and DreamHack can today announce that the next CS:GO Championship with a $250,000 community-funded prize pool will be at DreamHack Winter 2014 27-29 November 2014.
The CS:GO crowd-funding initiative began around one year ago at DreamHack Winter 2013 and has elevated the interest for competitive CS:GO tournaments with ESL One Katowice and ESL One Cologne during 2014. Now it’s time for the fourth event at DreamHack Winter 2014, as DreamHack host the “DreamHack CS:GO Championship” in Jönköping, Sweden.
“We’re extremely excited about this opportunity and we have a lot of new ideas how the tournament will be presented on-site and online, and hope to offer one of the very best tournaments to date,” said Tomas Lyckedal, Head of esports at DreamHack.
At DreamHack Winter 2014, CS:GO will have a dedicated stage throughout the full scope of the event where fans and visitors can experience and follow the tournament in full. Tickets to DreamHack Winter are already available at the official DreamHack webshop from 150 SEK.
The top-8 teams from ESL One Cologne will be directly invited to the tournament and the other 8 teams will be qualified through online qualifiers during October. One new thing is that DreamHack will offer a Special boot camp before DreamHack Winter 2014, where all teams are invited to Stockholm to have the best possible training conditions before the event. DreamHack & Valve will support the teams with accommodation during their stay in Stockholm.
“This will be a unique opportunity to build hype before the event and give all teams equal training conditions. It’ not only a unique thing for DreamHack and the teams, but for the community as whole,” said Tomas Lyckedal, Head of eSports at DreamHack.
