New xcom: worth it or no?

Saw some bad reviews, but generally I don't pay attention to interview sites since I'm under the thought that most reviews are purchased...figured I'd ask some straight gamers for their opinions.

I enjoyed the previous one, but this newest one coming out looked kind of iffy - if Im a fan of the previous entry is it likely I will like it?

Its like 37 on green man, is it worth buying now, or should I wait until it goes on further sale because its mediocre?

As long as you don't play it with the expectation that it's a xcom game, you're not going to be disappointed.

It's a mediocre shooter with a low-budget alien themed story and poor AI.
That's about it.

You get a few brainless hours of fun, but there's better games to spend your money on.
