New TF2 Promo Group on Steam

Skial welcomed me in a few months ago with open arms and I enjoy myself whenever I can on the servers, so here's me giving back. (Skip to the next paragraph if you don't want to read a mild rant). Why the fuck is it so hard for Steam/Valve/TF2 to notify the community in ONE way so everyone knows where to look and when something happens? Sometimes there is no adverts except on the Steam game-page. Others its on the TF2 website in the news...or blog...but never both. Occasionally it does get a blurb mention in Steam News. And just once I actually learned of a promo on their facebook page. Other than Pyroland I've never gotten any email for them and the final straw was the damned Robot Chicken thing I finally found out about in-game 4 days after it ended when I asked a polite skial-member what it was. A few friends that frequent the forums don't even hear about all of them...why? how? huh?


So this group is being established for those who like collecting/seeking the promotional items, genuine qualities, etc to come find out AND post yourself if you should be the one to find it. I've gone ahead and uploaded 2-3 announcements and will do so for more if I find any. It's a public group so help yourself to it and happy hunting. :)

Usually right after an update is released or when a new promo is leaked we have a thread about it but seeing as how you only have 12 posts it's pretty obvious you're rarely here when we have said threads

I never buy a new game, only sales. The only ones I bought for full price were Mass Effect 1 (the reason I have Steam), Orange Box (I went away for two weeks and my laptop wouldn't run L4D) and Quantun Conondrum (been waiting for that game for over 6 months).

I still got the Pip Boy since it was given out for the NV sale, and the Quantum conondrum promos since it was a game I would have bought without the tf2 items too.

I was kinda on the fence about getting Sleeping Dogs till I saw a 30 min gameplay demo of it :D. I was gonna get on consoles, but those versions are 60$!
I'm getting it on PC now, for 45$ and you get 8 Genuine TF2 items with it, sounds like a good deal to me :).

For the record I did not know about your threads nor do I frequent these forums unless I'm trading (toyed with leaving the group many times due to the annoying event pop-ups). However I think anyone could tell you posting ##s don't always mean anything if you spend your day lurking/reading and just hold your tongue. I do frequent a few forums doing just that. If I have nothing of value to contribute to a thread I don't respond save maybe a "bump."
As for the reason of creating this group it was merely (as stated) a single place where that's all there is. Promos and how to get them, when available. I'm not claiming I will be on there constantly hounding down these things. I've set it up so anyone can post an announcement so if you or another member hears about it before anyone else you can post it. I hope you and others will give this a chance.

Sleeping Dogs I'm on the fence about, finances a little low atm, but I agree it looks amazing.

Sleeping Dogs looks like a better version of Just Cause 2, which was an amazing game. I may get it, if I get more money in my Steam account :D
