Today, I'm going to start making a map for Team Fortress 2. I have no experience in making a map but I do have the power of the internet so I will be using that. If someone could refer me to a good mapping program, please let me know. Also, I may ask for help from time to time. The internet is great for looking up things but sometimes, it isn't so great. In addition to that, thank you to those who commented on my last thread about editing/making a map. I appreciate the input. Wish me luck!

Can anyone link me as to where I can download it? I can't seem to find the actual program itself anywhere.

If you have TF2 installed you should have Hammer installed aswell.
Check for hammer.exe in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Team Fortress 2\bin

Alright, got it. Is there anything else I need to get before I can start?

Also, it said "The program can't start because tier0.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."

I had to download SDK from the Tools section in your steam library before it worked for me.

Do I have to download all the SDK stuff or just the base?
Here's a Gyazo of the one I downloaded. It's just plain Source SDK, with nothing after it.

Alright, I'm downloading it now. I just want to make sure I don't miss anything. If downloading only the base helps me start up Hammer and get my new map going, then awesome.

Just make sure you don't try to start hammer from the SDK, it's broken and what not. Use the .exe in the bin like @Khed said

It's copying files from somewhere right now. Once that's done, Hammer should run, right?

Hammer still refuses to run because of the teir0.dll thing.

Okay so now it's working. My next question is, why aren't any maps showing up while looking in the TF2 files?

Also, sorry for all this inconvenience. Technology is just not my friend today.

You can't view / edit compiled maps (.bsp files) in the editor.
You need to decompile them into a .vmf file.
Here's a list of decompiled vanilla maps.

Well, Hammer decided it didn't want to cooperate. Made me want to throw my laptop into active traffic. Once I get a better computer, I think I'll try again. Thank you everyone for your help.
