Everyone at some point in their life faces this lovehatetragedy dilemma - when you hate and love something at the same time. I managed to develop one after traveling around the world for the past 10 years.
My lovehatetragedy is my own nation. Russians.
We have centuries of history and unique culture - take Dostoevsky, Tolstoy, Bulgakov, Tchaikovsky and so on, and YET somehow we manage to act like barbarians when we get to other countries (speedos, drunkenness, shitty behavior..)
We almost solely carried out WWII (except, maybe, Great Britain, who had been fighting Nazis on their own for two years before Hitler invaded USSR) and YET we managed to lose in this war since we lost 40 million people and got our country completely destroyed. Our remaining veterans live worse than afroamericans in Detroit right now. Germany (the country we had literally destroyed in WWII) on its own cost is bringing our veterans for treatment. What a shame.
We occupy the biggest territory in the world with the biggest natural resources in the world, and YET somehow 80% of population manage to live beyond the line of poorness.
We are one of the most sincere, generous, and open-heart people and YET we hate Americans, Jews, and Europeans beyond comprehension.
We have one of the most powerful Armies in the world and YET we manage to lose almost every single withstanding we had been into since WWII (well, with exception of Vietnam, where we kicked Americans' ass)
We gave birth to a lot of brilliant scientific minds (Lomonosov, Tsiolkovsky, Perelman, and so on) and YET somehow we've managed to beat USA in "The most illiterate nation" rating.
Regular Russian people are one of the most hardworking people in the world and YET somehow we've managed to become country number one in scamming schema's, hacking, botnets, and distribution of malicious codes.
I love my own people, but in the same time I hate them.
This is my lovehatetragedy. What is yours?
