Just a useless rant *w* ...

I think skial should go back to the 32/32 servers ... 64/64 was fun initially but now it has just turned into a no skill cesspool of players spamming from their own base or endless cuckold medic farming for 100+ ks which would never happen outside of this environment...

There is always multiple afk's or players spamming grenades from the spawn with no way for the enemy team to retaliate, which should be bannable IMO. There are also ppl who join to just chat which is fine i guess?? but should probably be stopped in the long term ?-? is tf2 not a social hub ... On top of all of this is skials shitty voting system/moderation which allows players to more or less spam the votescramble feature and win with -45% of the vote in a weak attempt to curb team stacking which wouldn't occur on 32 servers.

The skill level on skial has went down significantly imo .. there are really no good players who don't rely on medics/team stacking to achieve anything, I see alot of 100-200+ks from players who just spam crit rockets from around a corner, or simply rely on team farming to even play the game and while they are skilled in their effectiveness, I feel as though it lowers the overall skill of everyone playing and would not occur on a 32 player server.

Ive honestly not faced anyone in the last 12+ months who I've considered really good and not just a crutch player .. but maybe thats just me :x

Um? So you're mad? This isn't based on skill. It's community. It is a community server, not some bias you have.

No, it does not. If you want to play on another server, you are fully in your own ability to do so. Also, it is a 64 player server because people do and want to play on it.

I think the circumstance you're trying to pose with this post is that you're not happy with how the server(s) are operated. Crutches can be abused, but also exploited. If you're not happy I would say you need to put more effort into how you *know* what doesn't work as opposed to what you *feel* doesn't work.

Dead wrong. You keep talking about skill. Or number of players. I don't think you'll understand what that means until you start to work on yourself and not what others are doing.

64 slot is an absolute cesspool and makes 2Fort in particular even worse (I didn't think you could make 2Fort worse without direct map edits but life found a way).
You bring in more players, of course you are going to see a broader spectrum of skill level among players. I don't think the answer is gatekeeping playercount based on skill level.

Skial is just a community server, Skial is not competitive.
 
Yeah, it's just different strokes for different folks kinda deal. Some people enjoy pushing the server to its very limits.

But those of us who don't, we should just end our torments and leave. You can't make yourself to have fun.
There are other options available, keep an open mind.
(I like to chill in 2Fort with two dozen players)

In all fairness to at least give their opinion a fair swing.
I only think the main issue with the 64 server is, the map is too small.
 
It's a community server where most people log in just to talk shit and dump their call of duty 12-year-old vernacular in chat thinking that they're funny. It's not about skill. There are plenty of other servers in which starry can try to flex the skill that he thinks nobody can match.
 
I've been playing quite a bit more 2Fort US 1 as of late, and I've encountered a lot of really nice people there. I don't think most people that play on that server are in it for the skill, more of a fun place to frag and conversate with friends. Players rarely push for the intel, it's almost always just about killing each other repeatedly on the bridge or in the sewers lol. Just my take

I was thinking of Turbine 64. Do any of you have any recent experience of that?

It's the smaller, less resilient one of these meme maps.

Bottiger's 24/7 Idle Trade is fair and balanced compared to Turbine 64.
2Fort 64 can be stacked, but no way in hell can it be as one-sided as Turbine has been lately.
In my opinion.

The server is alive, that much is true.
That's the most important thing.

I still find this a bit sad.
Every time someone brings matters like this up it will be met with same kind of irreverence.
Tho this was far from a fruitful way to start a conversation.
So it gets the same vibes back, deservedly so.

But yeah, try a bit of Turbine.
In any case: lovely ppl to be met within its cramped walls.
 
i stand by my original assessment, skial 2fort is pretty shittty these days and the reason the other servers are neglected is because ppl are funnelled into the 'populated' trash heap or they are turned away from playing at all because its a 64 server ... i am not wrong. it should be obvious why 2fort doesnt sustain 64 players and while it was fun at first it rly has jnust turned into a spam fest. that is all this server rly is now... at best ppl farming kills with crit medics or pockets. literally half of my deaths are from demos spamming from their own base ... this is retarded .. meow
Also notice that none of the tf2 admins even play on this shit fest server anymore ... i haven't seen gala or soos and even caramel abandon this place. there are actually never any admins on to do anything .. endless afkers in base and endless scramble teams etx. ... maybe u ppl like it this way but i dont. .... and the retards talking about skill level just dont play at all bc i am better than you keke *~* will gladly 1v1 :x
maybe this is the direction skial wants to take...

I wasn't so keen on 64 player at first. When I became very active on skial around 2023-4 I would pour my time into the EU 24 server. After a hiatus and returning to see 64 were the main hotspots, I just decided to go with it. Honestly over time it's just grown on me. I don't mind it being a hodge podge of a cesspool of messiness - infact, I even seem to do well sometimes!

Moreover, in my experience, it's not often I see the EU 64 server full (though it most certainly is on the regular). Because of the recent birth of my son, I find myself playing more later at night than I am accustomed to and the numbers have dwindled to a more medicore 20/30/40 slots filled. Therefore there's certainly a range on offer as well.

Ultimately it's the 64 servers that are getting filled. I see the smaller ones get activity, and often I'll join it, buit it doesn't seem to last before the numbers fade.
 
I liked when it was two 32 player servers for turbine, an A game and B game so the admins and their ilk could join the second less skilled server while the A game had a line to get into. The 64 servers are now reserved for people who have the resilience to face the onslaught and because some of us decided to group up out of survival, the whole environment is now a have vs have nots situation. If you have dedicated meds and offense, you will bury the other team and lock them in spawn every single night. This is what they've turned us into through their selective bias.

Likewise you would have more mode to bury their team because there are more openings. We can talk maps and strategies all day - what I'm saying is just specific to the point that it's not as impossible as you're making it out to be. Yes, more players - yes, more difficult.

It's definitely a 'if you like it, play it' scene.
