Note: Ghosting (publicly giving away another's location) is not allowed on Jail Break.

Let's say the JB server has 14 people people on it, and we're doing fine. And all of those 14 players are using teamspeak, and they're all in the same channel. And they call each other's positions out when the time comes to it. (They could be, and they could not be using Skial's TS)

Is it considered 'Ghosting' still?

That's a really hard question.

The problem is that ghosting has easy work-arounds (Steam chat, TS, ect.) but since it's taking place in a third-party program we can't really punish for it.
As such it's very frowned upon to ghost in Teamspeak, but not silencable as that wouldn't stop them anyway.
However, in-server ghosting under any circumstance is silencable.

That's what I used to do but things might be different now. Who knows.

But, what if someone hosted a "ghosting" service so to say. And everyone eagerly used it.

It'd make the ghosting rule impractical.

There's no way for us to fix that.
We can't tell when someone is ghosting in a third party program
Then, even if we could tell the question becomes "is it right to ban someone for doing something not on our servers but involving them?". (Obviously we do this for stuff like DDOSing).
On top of this we would have to BAN ghosters on 3rd party programs, since silencing would lose its purpose, and I myself don't really know if it's worth something that extreme.

What do you suggest we do to fix something like this?

I saw, let's remove the ghosting rule on skial!

Even then, ghosting really speeds up the rounds, instead of having 4-10 armed rebels burning playing time searching for a hidden guard.
And when the hidden guards are found, they always retaliate anyway!

I don't think removing it entirely is a good idea.
If we remove it, dead people can be like: "Defib is rebelling and is in ____!".
This ruins the experience for rebelling players, and gives blues an unfair advantage.

it can also open up another can of worms with regards to trolling is people decide to lie. I know it's been done on TTT

That makes sense.

But we get in rounds where they hide ...
and that's it.

For 6 minutes!

I haven't really read anyone else's replies but server rules are explicitly server rules only. You cannot be punished for transgressions that occur anywhere outside of a sever, for example: Steam, Teamspeak, etc. It would be unethical, since Skial's jurisdiction does not control other servers and software. Although, it is just a dick move to do so I would suggest if you hear/see that occurring, then try to discourage it. Great question though.
