Just a serious question for those of you who play a lot of sniper.
I'm trying to get better at sniper in order to tryout for a ugc team soon.

So, I'm curious what a lot of you sniper mainers use. I always run Jarate, but I've seen and heard of a lot of serious snipers run the smg.

Personally I've never really liked the smg as much as the utility of jarate.

What bout you?
 
it honestly all depends on you.
i assume you're playing highlander, you probably won't need the smg as much since you have so much more backup then you would in sixes.
i recommend you play aggressive as you can and consistently attempt to hit targets while using the razorback so you don't focus on switching to secondary often. they say can be a great advantage over a team but imo, concentrating on picking top targets like the heavy, med, engie and especially the other sniper is far more important than attempting to jarate the main combo. when i used to scrim highlander, i'd see a lot of snipers not at their full potential because of jarate, whether it be them attempting to coat a spy or hit a scout on them or coat the peeps on the payload or whatever.
basically, run razorback and concentrate on picking and only picking with your sniper. you can do this on any pub or even a dm server if you really want to step up your twitch accuracy.
 
Too bad you're being serious, I love my strange Razorback to death.

Jarate's a great teamassist, whereas SMG is just for your own defense. Like any other pro would say, it's all about the situation. Are you on your own where jarate can't help your teammates out? SMG. Are you relatively close to your teammates or have a field of sight of your enemy so you can reach them with the jarate? Then jarate.

I voted Razorback however because Razorback is the best 420 blaze it 360 noscope weap 4 life yolo.
 
If you're good enough, you can headshot anyone point blank anyway.

That's why Jarate is the best.
 
Jarate certainly has more applications than the smg, putting out team mates, revealing spy's, and teh extra damage it can give your team mates can mean the difference between getting the objective or not.
like tomat says, if you know you are on a large map and away from you team a lot, the smg can provide better protection from spies and scouts, but then so can jarate and a machete.
as for razorback, its pretty much useless against a half decent spy, who will just headshot you. darwins danger sheild or teh cozy camper are better than teh razorback, just in terms of the passive effect each have on your health (+25 health or +1 regen)
 
Imma say jarate just because its much more helpful to the team and as a support class u need to help ur team as much as possible however in pubs ill often use the smg i have 341 kills on it if anyone was wondering c:
 
jarate, also a no-scope does 50, which is way more damage than you'll ever do with an SMG, unless you hit more than half of your shots. Jarate + bushwacka kills any class in one hit except soldier and heavy.
 
Jarate, much more practical than the SMG. SMG is used by selfish Sniper, considering it doesn't help the rest of the team. Jarate extinguishes, finds spies, does mini-crits, so much better than the SMG.

Unless you like to be alone and away from your team, use the Jarate.

Yes I know that people use it. My point was that it's cons far outweigh the pros when compared to jarate. If you can't melee or noscope as a sniper then you don't even deserve and SMG anyway.

So, who the fuck uses SMG?

It's more reliable than a sniper in close range.

I do.
 
i use always jarate and bushwacka .. its good rly .. but jarate and bushwacka vs pyros isnt good :(
