It doesn't matter to a ridiculous amount how it's done. But we need to do it. IMO, there's quite a ton too much admin discretion in skial anyway, but when it comes to homosexual slurs, it gets utterly ridiculous.

What's known so far is that "faggot" is, in general, not considered a homosexual slur(which in itself is ridiculous but acceptable considering the usage of the word on the internet.) But will we, for fuck's sake, equate any obvious slurs, semantics forgotten, with racism? I say this because two mentions of "nigger" and you get yourself a three-day ban; call regulars on the server cocksuckers and insult them by saying they suck dick and you'll get muted at the very worst.

Please, people, PLEASE decide if we're going to be intelligent and treat these the same way or if we're not going to ban for it at all. At least I can know that even KillerZebra(I'm only mentioning you because you're one of the more lenient admins) will ban for obvious racism despite warnings, but it gets stupid if I have to wait for Lady Violet(for example) to get on because I know most of the other admins would never ban for obvious things.

In related news, how the hell is "queer", in what is obviously NOUN form, not a sexual orientation insult? Slightly related to you, gwor. (http://www.skial.com/threads/tommy-insulting-sexual-orientation.27113/)

This conversation has been had a million times before. Nothing solid has ever come out of it.

What I generally do is nothing if someone calls someone a fag/got or something gay, but I do ban if someone actually starts attacking someone over their presumed or actual orientation, which I have done a couple of times.

If we had zero tolerance policy for faggot, we'd have to ban
everyone.gif
 
Someone got banned earlier for it, didn't catch the name since I was in L4D2.
Anyways, I'll +1 the idea.
 
Let's forget the zero tolerance policy for faggot; quite frankly it's because regulars and some admins in this forum are too attached to the word.

In this thread I would seriously like to talk about a quite obvious thing: that despite having racism and sexual orientation insults included in the same sentence in the rules, we simply do not treat them the same way. Again, if someone, to paraphrase, says "You suck at this game, you black man" it's going to be a ban 90% of the time, while if it's "You suck at this game, you cocksucking faggot" it's going to be nothing 99% of the time. Please decide which side of this fence to land on.
 
Queer as an adjective means something odd. Queer as a noun does not. And it is, in fact, very obvious which one you're referring to. By which I mean good luck convincing anybody in a gay bar you meant the former.
 
The word "faggot", from what I understand is generally allowed, but when it is used in a hateful manner against a sexual group, then it is not allowed. His use of the word "queer" as well shows that he used both words in a form of hate. This type of scum should not be allowed on our servers.
