Saw this scene from some idiotic low budget movie from the 70's or 80's on TV.

I am an Indian and I can attest that this is an everyday occurence here. Not all horses are good at this though, though most can do the belly-slide with sufficient training (done in grassy meadows). A thick leather sheet (though they have started to use carbon fibre nowadays, y'know,environment and all that) that extends on both sides prevents any unnecessary harm while sliding on hard tarmac.

I think it's from "Alluda Majaka", that movie definitely worth watching. Just look up some scenes on Youtube, I'll guarantee you that this one's far from the worst... : )
