This sounds like a speech from somewhere else with some words changed around. There are already groups (factions) that are split off and that's just the way it works since we have so many servers, people tend to group around with the people who are regularly on that server. Also, we have UGC teams and you'll notice the people in each group tend to be people from the same server. Here's the thing: when organizations get this big, things change. We get a lot of new people, and that includes a lot of trolls. Rules and guidelines must be instituted to shape these new people into good community members and keep the trolls out. Gone are the days of a small band of players who knew each other, bonded with each other, and knew what was acceptable and what wasn't. The large amount of new blood simply makes it impossible for that kind of group bonding on that level. And it is at this point where these big communities more often than not begin to divide and fall apart, where the class system falls in place to divide the 'elite' and the masses, where the old members retreat from the threat of change and diversity brought in by new members. In this system the community is split into factions within the masses, with infighting and fighting between the classes, and it is at that point where instead of being brought together by our common interest, which is the very foundation of a community, we are all crushed by the burden of petty difference and the refusal to accept change. My fellow Skial members, old and new, we simply must not allow ourselves to reach that point. Even though we are not there, that must not be our direction, our destiny. We must accept new members, new change, and phase out those who resist it, or face the consequences of allowing their fear and refusal to push us away from each other, thus allowing the pillars and supports to give way and fall from under the mighty roof that brings us under one name, one community.
Skial.
stuff
Hey, at least I'm not saying it's worse. Its good to have new members, and new lolery.(post)
I miss the day when Bottiger, Roman and I were the only admins
And we'd always be in Idle, trolling and getting trolled
And spending days making amazing houses and a giant statue of Roman with an enormous penis in Minecraft
And exploring the vast world of Terraria
I wasn't aware that she had shared her pictures anywhere.I didn't think that Ivory Jubilee was ugly. She was just 2 years below the mark that gets guys my age sent to prison.
Her profile pic used to be herI wasn't aware that she had shared her pictures anywhere.
Hint hint, post them, dickbag.
Not sure why you always take offense to us remembering the atmosphere that we used to have here. You seem to always take it personal, which it isn't. You always seem to think that we have this "superiority complex", when in reality we are only missing the closeness our community once had. Nobody is singling out the new people in a negative way. You get defensive to easy.this
the name of this thread is kind of misleading, and implies to people who were not around earlier than others that Skial sucks now.
which, in my opinion, it doesn't.
If you genuinely miss all of that stuff you could probably just go start your own community. As an aside, I read that Ruelel/Airakah/Cinic thread a while back, and that certainly wasn't "good natured", as CD put it.
I understand you all somehow feel entitled because of your irrelevant seniority. That's okay, I guess. But having a thread named "I miss the old skial" made by an admin with a bunch of admins talking down in an inadvertent way about the current state of affairs is bad PR and kind of nauseating in general to read. Once you are able to realize there is a sort of disgusting, poisonous superiority complex involved with feeling nostalgic for simply having existed in a place on the internet for a certain amount of time, maybe you will be able to take a shred of genuine pride in what you may have contributed in the past and in the now.
A good circlejerk is nice once in a while, but maybe you should start up a Steam group where you all can do it safely and without giving off bad vibes to new users. not that any of them will complain about it anyway.
Yeah it is hard to imagine where mine would've gone if I kept on going to Lotus servers instead of Skial because I wanted to avoid the constant drama there (which looking back today could hardly be held up to the Skial Standard of Drama).Damn, this thread makes you think back to when you first joined Skial.
I honestly wouldn't know where my life would've gone if I wouldn't have quickplayed to Chicago Badlands (Or wherever it was being hosted at the time) that one night almost 2 years ago.
