How to fix "Validating Steam files"

My friend recently was annoyed about this problem and did some searching

it fixed the problem for him.

Just follow the instructions and it should fix the problem.

EDIT: Looks like its back for my friend, seems like it only works for a day or two, if anyone else has tried this can you inform me if it works for longer?

Dam that's too bad, hopefully we can find another solution (other than reinstalling).

The only way I found of fixing this, was to re-download the whole game. Just left it going overnight...

I do the exact same thing :3

But since then, every update has broken the game. I make a backup every month, so I dont have to re-download it all. :|

Actualy I said this, because the first time I started tf2 after renaming the blob file, I went straight to validating files... but I think this might be the only time, I have launched tf2 a few times since and not once got the issue... so yeah, I think it actualy did work for me.. I'll let you know if i have to validate again.

well umm tried it and got a problem! i already have a thing rename as cliectregistryold.blob should i delete that one and rename this to it?
