Alright... Let's get back to the original topic at hand (even though I kinda derailed it...)

What makes you search for a cascaded forum type?
 
A friend of mine wants to find one like it so he can post his thread without having to bump it every hour or so. He is running a thread that is about a giveaway.

I imagine you'd have to bump it regardless on any forum with any amount of real activity. The last cascaded forum I can think of actually being popular at all was www.tdpri.com, and they've since converted to standard vBulletin years ago.
 
Thanks for info. I would hope there is another out there though. Even if just for a change of style from the steam standard.

Well, the current standard style of forums preexisted Steam by many years. I really can't even think of a current forum package that really offers the embedded reply style in an actual forum that you're looking for. There is Discus, but that tends to be used for comments on articles (like on www.droid-life.com).

Either way, I don't see how it would help prevent the need for bumping since new threads would still bury old threads.
