It just seems to me that 8 gigs of ram on an i3 is a bit of an overkill. The computer I'm gonna get(on Boxing Day) will have only 6 gigs and an i5, so to me, that 8 gigs seems ridiculous.

Probably crappy ram. Look at those slow-ass timings. 7-7-7-19 is really slow. You would think it would run at at least 1333 these days. Also that's a Nehalem chip, which was even before Sandy Bridge.

iBuyPower is a large company. They've been around for a while. Also, they seemed to have really cut corners on that machine. I can tell by the slow ram and i3.
