Looks like they were able to overload or shutdown or otherwise make inaccessible the authoritative DNS servers that GoDaddy uses for all its sites it hosts (including its own). So basically any site that is hosted on GoDaddy won't load right now (assuming you're trying to connect via domain name, not IP) They host a few million sites, so this isn't an insignificant outage.

but why godaddy? aren't there a bunch of other website hosting services for anonymous to attack

"GoDaddy was the target of protests after it was discovered that the company supported unpopular bills the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and Protect IP Act (PIPA)."
Well, now I'm voting for Anon.

The attacker specifically said it wasn't about SOPA or PIPA. He's just doing it for the lulz basically. Also he specified that it was a lone attack and not part of the Anonymous group. Looks like they're starting to get back online, but they're far from out of the woods yet.

At least he has the balls to admit it, rather than hide behind (Pardon my pun.) a mask.

Yeah, looks like the SQL database on my server is offline (not that I use it anymore) but my files are accessible.

I'll have to check Roman's site.
