...but what is it you're trying to ask? You can buy steam games from the steam store and gift it to yourself. You can get traded gifts, in which you receive a gift game and then it's yours to do what you want with.
I'm not sure if you can be bought a gift from someone else and have it to trade around though.

Sorry about posting this in the wrong section and not being clearer but what I meant was I have a Steam Key right now for the game Borderlands 2, I want to know if it was possible to redeem that and put it on my account as a gift so I'll be able to trade it.

Ah I see what you mean now.
I don't believe it's possible to do what you're wanting to do. I could be wrong. However, you COULD keep that key, not use it and then sell the actual key. If you're worried about scammers and such, just make sure to find a trusted middleman.

There has only been two instances where you have received a gift from redeeming a key. If you received the Potato Sack Pack or Torchlight 2 preorder and then receive certain HIB keys, you'll receive gift copies of the games you already own.
Other than those two cases, you'll never receive a gift from a key. You will either redeem it to your library or it'll tell you that you already own the product.
