I was wondering on how one stays on the fence as far as choosing your class in game. I generally pick the class im most comfortable playing and if I notice a certain class is not being played I will fill it.
The problem is that if I do choose an open class I get crap because I don't know how to play it and if I play a class I am better at (really not good at all at any) I get crap.

Should I just keep playing as I am comfortable or am I going to get kicked for not being a team member?
Im sure im just paranoid. I just dont want to be hated or kicked from your servers. Im sure this is considered a stupid question but do enjoy your servers and do not want a bad reputation as a scrub!

You won't be kicked or banned for being bad by any admins. If you're votebanned for being bad, you can bring it up on the forum here and whoever called the vote will be banned for vote abuse.

Well if you do get kicked, it would be vote abuse (Unless you where like griefing your team) So don't worry if you're good or not.. Just play whatever you have fun with.

The only way you can get kicked/banned for being bad is for doing so on purpose to harm your team.

No I am one of the worst players in TF2 so that is all. Im sure it just gets frustrating me being on there team sucking it up....I am trying though.

People really aren't that mean to noobies... BUT.. you can take the fact of being a noob into consideration... If you play spy for example... DR and they'll truley think you died.. Then you can kill the shit out of them.

I try to stay with Demo my favorite. Medic I like playing and will if there is none. Soldier and Heavy after that...Heavy has been a hard one to figure out. The other classes scout, spy, sniper and pyro I try to stay away from because I stand no chance. Thanks for the info like I said I don't want to be "that guy" that makes people leave because I ruin the server with my lack of experience and talent.

Wait, wait. So you're inexperienced and DON'T play pyro or sniper as your main?
I love you. Really, man. I do.

Soldier Is truley a hard class to master.. I never play it because I Love my spy... But getting those rocket jumps down can be a great feat.

Don't give up. Play as all the classes, swap off as much as you can. You can't get worse by playing classes you're bad at, you can only get better. I've got over a thousand hours in tf2. And lastnight was my first working rollout as a soldier.

I guess another question would be is there a certain game that is better at learning the classes? I play on payload mostly with some CP and CTF or is it all about the same? Stupid questions I know but I figure that with the time I do have in this game I should be getting somewhat better... or don't want to admit im over the hill on game playing :P

I started with Dustbowl..I think it's a great map to learn on because of the 3 map rotation. Now I play badwater... Both are great in my opinion

I'm horrible at TF2 and get my fair share of 'you suck' comments but I just stick with what ever class I enjoy playing no matter how bad I am. I suggest you do the same, because fact of the matter is we play TF2 to have fun. Winning is nice, sure, but you don't need to throw fun right out the window to give your team a slight edge on the battlefield by playing a class you're good at but don't enjoy playing. If anyone gives you that "not credit to team" crap then they can screw themselves. Winning is good but its not imperative in public servers.

Just play what you enjoy and what you're comfortable with, play for the fun of the game, and the more you play the better you'll get.

Play as you're comfortable. Buncha people get kicked or muted for the pettiest things but being bad was never one of them.

I'd say stick with a class for a while . You're bound to get better the longer you stick with one so you pick up on how to play them.

I seen that server but I thought if I came in there and started firing at people I would be banned because of the "idle" name. I guess I thought it was a party server a.k.a. messing around not fragging. A lot to learn yet I see.

You can kill people in it, and get achievements, and idle.

Thanks for all the positive input. I do have fun playing this game that is why I want to continue. KDR carring was lost after BF42 and have been more of playing the roll of bullet catcher to help the team win. I dont mind the crap I get if I do something wrong or could do better. I just dont want to keep screwing up without knowing what I am doing wrong is all.

Nobody gets banned for idling. Since the release of the Cheater's Lament, there's been a drop cap so there's really no way to abuse idle servers as far as idling goes.
