Yeah... that's totally what I meant. Not a full version that would get passed around with a README.1ST that said "if you like it buy it!!!!!!!!"
Okay good, because I used to get some .nfo file that had this intricate display of ASCII characters arranged in a picture.
 
I used BBS boards when I was a kid. We called it "shareware" back then. :confused:

Shareware was pretty awesome, like little trial sized games you get for free. And if you really liked it, you could get the full version.
 
Now "shareware" is "YOU GET 10 MINUTES OF USAGE AND THE ASK.COM TOOLBAR!"

Having said that, I love Steam.
 
Doom Shareware used to last us for weeks. Then we got the rest of the game. You're right though, it's not the same now.
