New [Forums] Add option to make "private" reports

Basically, add an option to make your report private which makes it only visible to the poster and the admins and not the general public.

The reason for me suggesting this is because I've seen way too much unnecessary trash talk and harassment and I'd like to use myself as an example for this. There would be absolutely zero drama going on if this was an option, you've seen it first hand.

This would be a better alternative than just DM'ing some admin about your issue. It is private, and it also doesn't bug anyone, and all admins can still weigh in and come to a conclusion, even if it may take a little longer.

The obvious drawback to this is that there won't be other people posting evidence. That seems pretty bad but when you look at most reports, this barely actually comes in to play. Most people just tend to simply trash talk and say it is unfair for them rather than posting evidence challenging the report. And there is always the option to 'un-private' the report if things seem uncertain.

if you're friends with admin and they're okay with you sending reports to them in private then that's fine.

but asking to make "private reports" to admins so they can mute/ban without any thought behind it is just ridiculous, just for you to avoid people seeing it is not fair whatsoever.

this will not be happening since we like to be transparent with everyone and not prioritize specific people who use the report system.

The way you are wording this is greatly exaggerated and it sounds like you think I am asking for special treatment/privileges when I am not. Muting/Banning anyone without any thought is agreeably ridiculous. I explained my reasoning and given multiple examples to prove my point while also trying to consider the drawbacks.

I also do not understand the contradiction within your statement. You are saying "private" reports are fine as long as you are friends with the admins? Talk about "not fair" am I right. But since you mentioned it, let's become friends then.

never have i said these private reports are okay only if you're friends with an admin.

if the admin you're friends with is okay with having you report in private instead of making them on the forums then that's fine and they can decide whether to decline or approve those reports.

what we are all getting and understanding from this suggestion post is that you want the reports to be done in private so they can be approved by an admin without having to decline it, and for other players/users to not see your reports or comment on it.

i don't really agree or side with doing private reports with admins because it's just too much to deal with and can be overwhelming for them sometimes so it's best to keep everything on the forums.

and no with all due and respect i do not wish to be friends on any platform to accept any reports from you in private as it overwhelms me personally.

we're not doing private reports on the forums, and admins are not obligated to take private reports through dms

99% of people that publicly report don't have any issues

I understand why the admins wouldn’t want to encourage private reports.

The report form & forum are fine as is.

I believe reporting is kinda like donating blood. Maybe a tiny bit less lifesaving. Indeed, in 99% of times you’ll be fine after. But there are still risks. And what do you even gain by making a report? Not saying that there should be any compensation (should be none for your blood either). Btw, it’s still nice to get thanks, even if it’s not necessary.

In some rare cases making a public report might not be worth the risk.

Then it’ll be a dm or nothing. Either way is fine with me.

Well luckily nobody has received permas from these reports most of them have been resolved

Also if anybody needs to be reported it’s this guy. If you check skial stats you can see that this dude joins the server with multiple accounts and is spectating 90% of the time.
