we're not going to make down/up votes public due to possible targeted harassments from either the person who created the suggestion or other that may disagree with them.

its best to keep it anonymous for the safety of users, if they feel the need to voice out their opinions through commenting on the suggestion post they can do that.

whether someone still plays on the servers or not, everyone is entitled to have an opinion, and it shouldn't be based off the amount of time they spend on the servers, forums or discord.

that's the point of having a community.

Because it’s another pointless suggestion, not supported by the community, that creates unnecessary work and privacy issues.

How do you know it's not supported by the community? Who are you? I know plenty of users who would love for this to be implemented on here.

Two people in this thread supported the idea. It currently has a -2 approval (I didn’t even vote, personally don’t care one way or the other). Why didn’t those users post or vote the suggestion up if they love the idea? It’s a forum suggestion anyways, so it’s not like they don’t have an account to do so.

I would really love to see how many users in total voted on the other thread and what the percentages were.

I think that last statement is a good idea. Displaying the amount of users who voiced their opinion can definitely show how much interaction posts generate and give a better idea of how people generally feel about a subject, more so than a simple overall rating (which I still think has uses albeit less).

As to removing anonymity from votes, I think that's a horrendous idea. I would argue the downsides heavily outweigh the upsides to implementing this. Making the votes public will discourage people from participating, which would achieve the opposite of what public forums intend to do (hearing the opinions of the community). Secondly, as mentioned before this could cause disruptions and other inconveniences. Having access to know who voted and what they voted for could very easily be used to target specific individuals who have varying opinions to other users. While many choose to make themselves public by commenting in the suggestion itself, many others do not wish to get heavily involved and instead give their two cents to the matter. To regards of possible vote inflation either for or against suggestions with botted or new accounts, bottiger still has complete access to see specifically who voted for what. If that scenario occurs he still has the ability to determine whether the votes represented the voice of the community or not.

The forums are a place meant for everyone who wishes to participate (if they follow the rules of course). It is not tailored for to any specific type of player, instead it is meant for both new and old players who wish to further interact with the community here. Their experiences with skial and tf2 can shape and create their own unique opinions on what they wish to implement within skial. I do not believe the original purpose of this suggestion was made in good faith to listen to everyone who wishes to participate in the community. From what you've commented it appears you wish to see users not for their thoughts, but whether or not you can disregard what they say (or vote for) entirely.

Why was this suggestion declined?
While I can see that the skial admins have changed; Perhaps for better, perhaps for worse. I don't agree with your argument of rampant abuse.
Nor do I think implementing this thread's suggestion would have solved any problems.

Stop making silly suggestions before they ban you 😉

Being able to see the total amount of users who voted and what the ratio was would be great even if usernames remained hidden.

I've got something to add here. More users did want to vote on this suggestion but they couldn't because voting was (wrongfully) paused.
