Out of all maps Skial had removed from their deathrun rotation, I feel like dr_minecraftland was one of their worst decisions currently. A map that is detailed, aesthetically beautiful, one that has tons of custom materials and textures, with great minigames and a nice soundtrack shouldn't be removed over the fact that they had to bring space for dr_skibidi_toilet to fit in. Personally speaking, I don't think this map deserved to be removed from Skial and that's why I believe this map's details and overall gameplay is worthy of staying on Skial servers.

Also, it's a non-parkour map that isn't excessively long and that's what I also love about it. It's a fun short map, so why did they have to remove it? :ragesad:

Although this map is definitely true to Minecraft, with all the work put in into refining the map per update and custom animations, possibly the map with the most time put into it just right behind Playstation. I'm gonna say it has to remain off the map pool. The map is simply too short for my liking and scouts can easily complete this map in a minute or two in some cases, the minigames get stale after a while which doesn't really complement to it's small minigame count (3 I think? Excluding insta and humi). I do not hate this map, like I said before it has loads of time and effort put into it with all the texture importing, custom animations, and going through the hellhole of hammer to get all these functions or whatever it takes to get a tf2 map working, the map just gets stale too quickly and I usually leave after 5 rounds. Cool secret though.

yeah because the new maps dr_raiders and dr_skibidi_toilet are definitely not as stale as minecraftland
jesus christ at least minecraftland was fun, why remove it over 2 SHITTY maps that are even more stale and boring?

Can agree that minecraft land is leagues ahead over those 2 maps. I'll give skibidi a chance since its only a beta but I am not expecting a miracle out of the map due to the way the map is designed (though you should never judge a book by its cover), and raiders is a Cream Tea map, do I need to say more about it?

I want to make a point concerning dr_minecraft_land.

I published this map two years ago. That was my second map ever, right after dr_hellfire. The concept of the map came about when I was messing around on Hammer with some Minecraft models. While looking at the result, I had the idea to turn that 'experience' into a deathrun map. So, the map started with the visual in mind before the layout or the gameplay.

While making this map, I learned how to import custom models into TF2, make particles, and create custom animations. Well, I learned everything except how to design a good map layout.

Do you see the problem ? I'm a mapper who will add a lot of great visuals to their maps rather than ensuring that the map is balanced, not too long/short, or fun.

Some people would love my maps for their visuals, and others would dislike them for their lack of gameplay elements. And that's understandable; a map cannot please everyone, but here, the flaws are too prevalent to be able to ignore them.

Yes, the map is too short, and yes, the map is not that fun to play on. I totally agree.

You might expect me to counter-argue, but I won't.
Since Skial is selecting only a few maps for their server, I don't think my map really deserves to stay in that list (especially since a Scout can rush and complete the map in one minute).

This map brought me many good things, but now I have to move on to something else. And you should move on too. The map will remain with these flaws, and I do not intend to correct them.

At the moment, I'm working on a new map that will share a lot of similarities with dr_minecraft_land, but I will do my best to not make the same mistakes. If you like dr_minecraft_land for the visuals, you will love the next map. If you dislike dr_minecraft_land for the lack of fun, you will likely appreciate the next map more.

That's all I had to say.

Looking forward to seeing what you come with it. The visuals and custom models on that map were amazing. A balance of both fun and visuals would be amazing.

Per the last suggestion I made:
dr_minecraft_land is far too easy for the runners to win. Many of the traps are clearly marked, there isn't a motivator (aside from the spawn room), the platforming sections are very simplistic, the map is short enough that runners can simply throw themselves at traps and there would still be enough of them left over to reach the end, and there's an automatic respawn at the end of the map.
With all of these factors combined, it's nearly impossible for Hale to beat the runners, especially with a full server. On top of that, the minigames are also heavily skewed in the runners' favor: 2/6 are instant win and humiliation, the color game doesn't go fast enough to be a challenge, parkour is similarly linear and short, and fight barely gives Hale any health, making him extremely vulnerable against every runner being respawned. Spinner is the only one that Hale stands a chance at winning, but is undermined by a glitch that's still active in the current version, where standing in a certain spot in the room with the Evoker trap will prevent RED from being teleported to the minigame. Even with a Hale that's good at spinner, because of this glitch, the runners effectively win immediately.
So, what should be done? I suggest replacing it with a map that has more difficult aspects to it. A map this easy just isn't fun to play on; the minigames, platforming, and traps aren't engaging for RED at all, and Hale can't even kill most of the runners, let alone all of them. Every single time I've played on this map, the scoreboard shows RED as having won every single match. I think it's for the best if dr_minecraft_land gets removed, at least in favor of a map that's more difficult, engaging, and fun for both Hale and the runners.
It's simply not engaging enough for the server's skill level. It's both very short and very easy, neither of which are good considering the lack in difficulty in minigames as well. While it admittedly it looks very good from an appearance perspective, it doesn't equate to the actual design of the deathrun sections, which are outclassed in many aspects by many other maps.
