When Runescape wasn't fucked up in 2007/08? Before trading was destroyed, when the Wilderness was open, when Runescape was fun and wasn't turned into WoW or some shit?

I don't know. Maybe it's just me being nostalgic.

Back when I was 12 years old, this was basically my first internet experience and my first experience in talking to people who did not live in this area of Texas. That was just about the best thing that could happen to me as a kid.

Of course, they kept doing X, X, X, X, X, X, and X updates, where the game started feeling less addictive as I played it even though I was finding reasons to not hate it. As odd as it sounds, the largest game-breaker for me was the Grand Exchange. It was only neat for so long before you realized that advancing any skill started requiring you to fork more and more cash while most skills themselves cost more gold to train than they would provide. Raw materials are flat out more valuable than the products created from them. Would you like cut an uncut onyx with your high level in crafting? The cut onyx now costs 400,000 gold less, and a further crafted item could range from -100k to -1.5 Million. Perfect economic logic. I won't even go into what massive merching clans do, no one has to be smart with their money anymore, it's similar to a Wall Street for Pre-Kindergarteners.

All people care about is having the stats in the shortest time possible. I was level 131 with 28 cooking, 26 slaying, etc and I was never pressed to spend the day or two it would take to advance them by a couple dozen levels. The only real reasons to level a skill aside from an achievement cape was to either do a quest or play an activity that was actually fun.

I could bitch and moan all day about RuneScape. I'm done with it, though. I started laying less and less until hitting a wall sometime in early 2011, there were just too many memories and life lessons(>_>) gained from that game's weird to painfully ordinary player base for me to give up on it that easily.

The only online game I ever played from the age of 7 to till I was 13 was Counter Strike.
Naturally I have become immune to raging after regularly getting my ass handed out to me by pros (and my elder brother - older to me by about 8 years) for over 5 years.
:p

I long for the days when video games were a private club for introverted nerds who didn't try to interact with society. And we spent our time downing Doritos and Mt. Dew in pursuit of lofty gaming pursuits which no pre-processed XBox achievement could match. Just beating some of those old games without a continue was a high water mark of gaming skill.

I loved Runescape. Runescape use to be a place where level eighty or higher was close to insane. Where crafting wasn't for trade but for you and your friends to become stronger and go after our destiny. I remember the day I logged on and saw the new GUI. To be frank I lost my childhood that day and now Runescape has become a breeding grounds for twelve year old kids and scammers...R.I.P Runescape. -_- P.S It's rs2006.net

Wow, didn't realize you guys liked RuneScape. My biggest online game experiences came from Maidmarian games (before I got WoW), still awesome to log on to those shitty games and mess around with buds on. Still remember the time when we fucked around in the game called "Moonbase" and my pal literally pissed his pants from laughter. Good times.

I played that game way to fucking long, i would sit for hours on end chopping the yews outside lumby while doing hw but it was good fun while it lasted. Me and some friends also had some great pranks in that game like one time we got some kid to accidently eat his own 20 mil Halloween pumpkin by quitting the trade right before he added it and then he ate it. LOL

Well said and I agree

I long for the days when my index finger wasn't too long to fit on this planet nor over 300,000,000 degrees Fahrenheit. I don't think anything of Christian Bale and the landscape remains stable. Hey, hey, let go of my jean sweater.
