What are your thoughts on this?

Mine:
Can be better and much more safer for trading with money, but I don't like the option you cannot withdraw the money back - you may have loads of money from the items - its some loss for Valve as the traders may just profit from items without buying them from store. But as you can see they're always clever so:
"What is the “Steam Transaction Fee”?
The Steam Transaction Fee is collected by Steam and is used to protect against nominal fraud incidents and cover the cost of development of this and future Steam economy features. The fee will be 15% during the beta period (with a minimum fee of $0.01). This fee may WILL be increased in the future."

Update: Only tools, keys and crates are able to be traded for the moment being.

I think it's a good concept, but It'll need a lot of work to get it to be stable, just tried to buy something, but someone else already has, and the offer still shows up.
Just got a Soldiers Killed part for £0.19

There is no loss for Valve, they're selling digital items that cost nothing to produce. If anything they'll gain more money from this as they're not just getting it from Mann Co sales anymore. It's no safer than using PayPal since I imagine the majority of the Steam Wallets are funded by PayPal.

It might entice more people to buy TF2 items as they will be listed cheaper than Mann Co store and they believe there is added security. At the same time, not all sellers will use the Market since you money is stuck on Steam.

Neat idea, might use it, but certainly not going to change the trading world.

What everyone sees: "Oh cool, now i can sell my stuff and make money yay!
What gabe sees: "Oh wow, now all those losers give me free money"

I was thinking about buying buds, but since my parental units won't let me get a paypal, this may or may not save my life.

yeah, but granted they add the ability to do other items. kinda hoped ya'll would infer that.

Maybe in the future they will, but from the looks of things I doubt anyone would sell their buds on the steam market.

Then you may be surprised.
Steam users are weird...

I realize that there is always the chance of something happening, but from what I've seen it seems like bud sellers are doing it to make a profit. The only reason you'd sell a bud on the market would be if you only wanted the cash to buy a game, but if you sell the bud with paypal you'll still get the cash for the game with the added bonus of being able to use the cash outside of Steam.

If steam adds the ability to take money out of your steam account, paypal trading will have be obselite.

I don't think this will kill Paypal trading since there's a 15% or more fee and you can't withdraw.

The question is if they will ban people for trading outside their system.

But I am sure that tf2warehouse is dead since they planned to make money on their bitcoin for credits exchange.

I just sold a crate for .01!
