Disable ratings for new users

Make it so that new forum accounts can't give or receive ratings until they have at least 10 posts.

This will prevent people who make accounts for ban appeals from getting negative ratings as well as giving disagree/dumb ratings when they rage at their unban denial.

This will also prevent new users from being discouraged when their first few forum posts receive bad ratings.

As it is now new users cannot post links until they have at least 2 messages. Apply this to ratings as well, 10 posts shows they are actually active and may then give/receive ratings.

+1 for rating system overhaul and removal of 'dumb' rating. some people have feelings and something as simple as a 'dumb rating' can run them off or hurt them. Are we, as a community, condoning such behavior?

You have a point. I often times see a lot of moderators expecting members of Skial to be mature, yet a dumb rating cannot ever be used in a mature way.

But, removal of dumb should be its own thread.

there's a forum trophy for getting enough negative ratings and Dumb is the most common negative rating given

Not if they aren't aware of it. The rating feature can just be unlocked as a nice surprise for anyone who has the decency to stick around a bit...

It's quite alright. Unlike some people here, I don't really give a shit about the ratings I get. You'll either like what I say or you won't

I agree, however, once more people know about it, when they have their friends join the forums, the word will spread about how to unlock ratings and the posts/thread spam begins.

You gotta be kidding nobody is going to spam just to unlock ratings... and if they can't recieve any ratings they won't even know about it.

If they do spam they'll just be put in timeout so w/e

Or the ratings can be unlocked with a time limit not how many messages you post like say being on skial a month

That's a good idea maybe like 15 messages and 1 week old account.

I think 1 month is too long but yeah good idea.

I am just saying it could happen. I'm not saying it will, but it might since people can be complete dumb-asses and love to troll(like people who don't read the rules and get banned for breaking a rule)
This doesn't mean you should really be butt-hurt, I am just predicting what may happen.

Allow friendly, likes, and disagrees in the intro section.
Remove all ratings in the Ban Appeal section.
Allow Agrees and Disagrees in the reports (if someone else was on the server they can dispute or agree with your claim).
