Scarcely Lethal Noob
Do any of the TF2 servers have class limits? I don't think the doublecross US23 server does, but an engie cap of 3, and sniper cap of 4 per team would be awesome. :P
So much wrong here, just so much of it. You think that heavy medic combos are hard to take down? Please I can take them out with ease. The spies and snipers learn how the game works? Please, those kids ain't learning shit about the game, they just run around like retards and do basically nothing. The only thing they learn is how to die efficiently. And heavy is just mow-down without any strategy? Really? I can see you haven't played heavy much if at all. (and now let's just sit back and wait for that disagree jwso is sure to give and the disagrees from all the people who have something against the heavy.)While I can agree with Ozone somewhat, at least people (mostly, at least) learn a bit about the game as spy and sniper and how it works, whereas heavy is just mow-down without any kind of strategy involved more than avoiding sniper and spy.
And yes, 1-2 heavy limits imo, it's just annoying when heavy+medic combos can mow down an entire team without any effort whatsoever.

Two+ heavy/medic combos aren't impossible to take down, but they are still harder than your average pair to take down simply because the heavy has so much DPS at close range it's ridiculous. If someone tries to kill them at long range, any heavy that knows how to dodge can easily neglect that damage. Fully-chared headshots can take a heavy out, that's true. But that's basically it. You miss with that headshot, you've lost yourself about 5-10 precious seconds. Check your backside frequently for spies. Not much harder than that. Of course, any skilled player can take heavy+medic combos out. Unfortunately, this isn't a lobby game where skilled players are everywhere. We're talking about pub games where not everyone is as super-ultra-pro as you apparently are.So much wrong here, just so much of it. You think that heavy medic combos are hard to take down? Okay, I can get behind this. I still consider heavys badly designed, though.I don't support this, -1
Like 50% (guess) of the causal players who join a public server do it to have fun, to get a few nice frags, they aren't necessary interested in the control points, the cart or the intel. They don't know / don't care about the fact that if there are 4 other spies in their team players on the other side would be more careful and spycheck more, but they would take it in the wrong way if their class wouldn't be available and lot of them would instantly leave the server, which isn't one of Skial's main goal at the moment.
If you're looking for more serious gameplay, play highlander, it has class limits as you like it, the amount of noobs there are just a fraction of the zounds on a pub server, has no crit or damage spread and you'll find it more challenging too. Giildy made an awesome step-by-step guide here how to set up a game: http://www.skial.com/threads/how-to-set-up-a-lobby.13150/
Heavy's high dps at close range is easily removed by going long range. He can dodge at close range? Nah your aim just sucks if that's the case. Btw, taking out the medic is ALWAYS a good way to take down a heavy-medic combo. Then there's the sticky traps. Use them well and the heavy-medic combo is gone. Then you can always use the soldier and rocket jump over the heavy to shoot the medic to death then kill the heavy or just to help your team take him down.
Gotta agree with that first part about favorite classes and stuff, I know I wouldn't want to play on a server if I couldn't play solly, medic or spy on it. But I do see a bunch of players leaving the server if the teams are full of spies and snipers.I'm all for class limits, and agree that it gets ludicrous at times, but the problem your going to get is that people will leave the server if they can't play their favourite class. There is a lot of players on public servers that don't care about the team side of the game, they're just in it to rack up points. If you think of it loosely in terms of percentages. a 24 player server loosing 3 players than can't get there class, you're looking at a potential 10% reduction of players. The up side is more might join if they're not stuck with a team full of spies, scouts, and snipers.

True, but I think any semi-smart heavy is protective about the medic. If he sees a soldier rocket jumping at him, he'll shoot at the soldier. If he sees the stickies, he'll shoot at the stickies. And all this only requires one button. Well, any semi-smart heavy will of course use the walk-button as well, so make that two.Btw, taking out the medic is ALWAYS a good way to take down a heavy-medic combo. Then there's the sticky traps. Reread my reply one more time, I don't think your retarded brain understood even the slightest bit of what I said.True, but I think any semi-smart heavy is protective about the medic. Heavy is a great class if played correctly but I guess someone like you wouldn't understand that.pot kettle black
semi-decent players won't play heavy because those people acknowledge that heavy is a terrible class, suited for killing people that are bad this game. that's why real men play scout.
heavy is incredibly limited, and his skillset is more suited for ruining low-level pubs, rather than actually high-level play. more heavies = just more attrition.Heavy is a great class if played correctly but I guess someone like you wouldn't understand that.
