I really like playing support and Treant Protector is the hero I usually default to.

All you have to do is heal things, you can heal friendly buildings/units, and that's really what you're really good for. Not to mention that you can become really tanky late game.

One of my personal favorites is Dark Seer. But it's all about play style, pick what you like and roll with it.

Only suggestion I could make is don't start out playing pudge, get used to player movements and gameplay before trying him, or it can be a mighty frustrating experience.

Core: Dragon Knight is one of the simplest and most effective heroes in the game. He's pretty tanky and has high armor and regeneration. All of his spells are simple and to the point and there are no complicated spell combos to memorize. A key item for him is the Soul Ring, which solves his mana problems (it is an item that sacrifices HP to gain mana). Because DK has such high HP and regeneration, you can pretty much use Soul Ring without worrying about getting yourself killed.

Support: Lich is one of the easiest support heroes to play. Good nuke, decent move speed, and has no mana problems thanks to his signature ability, Sacrifice. Sacrifice instantly kills an allied creep and gives you mana based on how much its current HP was when sacrificed. Also, anyone within XP range gets the creep's XP. If you sacrifice creeps away from the enemy, you not only gain extra XP, but you also effectively steal XP from the enemy. Sacrifice also pulls the creep wave towards your towers, forcing the enemy to move further from their tower in order to gain lane XP.

I usually go with Brewmaster or Lifestealer. Brewmaster has pretty good abilities. His ultimate is really useful when taking out enemy towers. Lifestealer also has a pretty good ultimate that you can use to your advantage without being seen by enemies. Otherwise... Juggernaut is also a simple character with basic abilities, but I would probably only use him in unranked matches.

I typically stick to supports, so as far as supports go I'd say you cant go wrong with treant protector or shadow shaman.

If you want play of hard carry, the best is Riki.
If you want play of carry, Drow ranger or Slark.
If you want play of tank, Axe or pudge
    Its my opinion.

In my personal opinion and I'd think most people could agree w/ me, Sniper is primarily the easiest hero. My reasoning for this is simply b/c he has 2 very nice passives and 2 pretty easy actives for his 4 total abilities. The first ability that you will mainly want to skill in the beginning would be Take Aim which increases your attack range. This is the main reason why Sniper is pretty much the easiest hero solely b/c he can deal nice damage from far distances that no one else in the game can hit you from unless you have a enemy Tinker spamming his missiles at you. If you get good, free farm as Sniper, just work your way to Treads, then Shadow Blade, then Desolator and you're pretty much set. After that, you can acquire situational life steal w/ a MOM and later get a Daedalus for some nice damage and crits. One main problem w/ this ugly dwarf is that he is one of the many heroes w/ a poor base attack damage so early game farm wont be the easiest at first and it will take some getting used to for last hitting and denying if needed.
