Scarcely Lethal Noob
People, the Sligz kids specifically, have been banned from Skial in the past for holding the intel indefinitely. It's listed as against the rules to deliberately impede your team's success, paraphrasing, and other people didn't vote on the report just for the lawlz. Afroman got the intel, stood around for a bit, we told him to go cap, and he spammed the "No" voice command until the !report was started.

Sometimes it's the only way to get someone to stop breaking the rules.

If you'd rather not be bothered with it, remove it from the server rules and clarify that it's not a bannable offense. Don't ban the person who reported it.

This is not rocket science.

you have to realize there are a lot of people who do reports on here and the admins can not always tell if the person is vote abusing or not by looking at the logs. With a report like that where some one is holding the intel it is much easier to make a demo & post the report on here. Mistakes happen its not the end of the world for you.

I'm sorry, but that's not what happened. I'll go as far as to say that I could (Don't think I did, but COULD) have gotten the name wrong, or hit the wrong button, but a group of people didn't start yelling at someone for holding the intel as engy and spamming "No!" at us for no reason. When the vote happened, the engy dropped the intel, iirc, and another went to cap it.

I accept that the ban will stick, but, just for the record... I mean at least one of the people who voted doesn't even like me. He didn't vote just to carry on with me. This guy was holding the intel and trolling the team. You can say "No, that did not happen," but 24 people know that you're wrong.

If I play on your servers in the future, I'll keep in mind that not only do you not police them, but that the options for handling rule breaking given to the users are nothing but a nuisance to you.

Edit: I understand that it isn't the end of the world. Honestly I wasn't even going to play tonight until Marta asked me to join him; it's just very annoying when you play somewhere for ages and actually get your first ban, period, at your "home" server, when someone else broke the rules.

And it really puts the server in a bad light, to me personally, because the fact remains that this happens often, breaks the game mode, and the !report is often the only thing threatening enough to get the offender to stop being a douche. If that's off the table and this is now just something I would have to deal with while playing until a demo can get posted and action would be taken hours later... Why would I want to play there? This is the one of the most common forms of trolling on a CTF map. It has happened a lot and will continue to. And the methods mentioned for dealing with it just aren't good enough.

This will be my last reply though. I'm honestly not trying to get into a fight here, but I figured I'd speak my mind.

  1. You said it yourself you reported the wrong guy. If not, the activity logs show he wasn't holding the intel instead of capping.
  2. Like previously said, if there really is an issue, take a screenshot (F12) or record a demo (instructions here)
